Hi Everyone!

Fairy - I have been doing the same. Unless I get tightened up, I'll be wearing some creative outfits. I am beginning to think I may make some of my own stuff. I like longer shirts and the 1/2 to 3/4 sleeves. I could wear the jeans and stuff that are out there, but the tops will have to cover the excess skin. Guess I have to be better at doing some exercises to tighten the skin and muscle underneath.

I hit a landmark today and I AM THRILLED!!! I am so happy with my decision to get the band!

WTG, congrats on the milestone.

a suggestion on finding shirts that are longer. I always had lots of luck at The Avenue. I go to University plaza. If you hit the sales you can get some GREAT bargains. And I usually only shop for bargains

I too prefer the 3/4 sleeve and can find them there.

Hope - WTG on breaking 250! :wink2::lol: I'm eyeing that one myself. I was hoping to break it by our trip to Disney next month, but I don't think I'm going to make it. I'm losing pretty slowly right now. I got a fill today, though, so hopefully that will get me going again.

Lynn - Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check them out.

Hey everyone!

Good to see the board is a little active now. I went to the meeting last night and it was pretty good. I would advise anyone to go to the support group meetings, they always revv me up! They are a good source of information.

Stacy, I think someone answered this, but St. Francis support group meetings are open to anyone. Christiana charges $5 a meeting if you did not have surgery with them.

Thanks for sharing this. I may just check them out. I had my surgery in Phila at HUP but the evening meetings are very difficult for me to get to (living in Salem County NJ and not wanting to travel to downtown Philly during rush hour). So, sounds like you would recommend them. How easy is it to get to St. Francis and park, etc?

The St. Francis support group is right off of I-95 at the Christiana exit (the northernmost of the 2 exits, the one where Toys R Us/Borders is - I can't remember what the sign says there). It should be pretty easy for you to get to.

The address for CHRIAS is 537 Stanton-Christiana Road, Suite 102, Newark, Delaware 19713. St. Francis is the suite right next to it. Here's the link to the CHRIAS directions.

Directions to Delaware's Surgical Services Specialists - CHRIAS - Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery

I hope I can make them next month.

edited to add: Parking is in a standard outside lot, and is free. I've always been able to park in the 1st or 2nd row.

hi Band mates!

This weekend was a little rough. Got to love it sometimes. I forgot how it can be bad to not really have anything to do. I did play couch potato a bit and enjoyed it for a while. Then I realized that there really isn't much on tv these days!

Thanks for the info about Avenue. I'll have to take a look. I'm always up for a bargain!

Thanks for noticing my milestone and the congrats! I am looking forward to the next goal!

it was a rough weekend, not really a couch potatoe, but had alot of sitting around. my daughter is in the hospital and I spent lots of time there and didn't eat right, if I ate at all. defnintely low on the Protein intake

just a recurring issues for her, but it is still a drain to not have any defnitive answers and just waitng for test results.

I have to try and get in some exercise between work and visitng her.. and getting things done at home..I NEED A NAP....

I see Dr. Wynn on Friday.. hope for another fill

Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope you have your answers soon.

I see Dr. Peters on Wed. for my pre op visit. I can't believe my surgery is almost here. The hospital called this a.m. to preregister me. It makes it seem so real now.

Lynn - I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. White light going out in hope that they find the problem and make it better soon!

It's never fun to hang out in the hospital. It's amazing how dead-tired you can get just sitting around all day, even when it's not a big crisis. I'll never understand that.

I got a 1cc fill on Friday. Boy did that make a difference! I'm finally eating bandster portions. I've always thought I was eating too much, but I was getting stuck occasionally and thought I had decent restriction. I guess I was wrong. I haven't gotten stuck since the fill, but I can definitely feel it after about 1/2 a cup. Plus I'm eating much slower, without even thinking about it.

thanks for the kind thoughts about my daughter. more tests still pending, and yes, a lack of sleep is tough.

I am still going to work, but by the phone constantly. she is 28 years old so is competent to be on her own..

I go for a fill on Fri. and fairy I have the same issues as you, eating too muchm but at times feel more restriction, hoping for at least a little fill to boost the restriction

Hi there. I'm from Middletown, DE and was banded on 8/26/08 by Dr. Irgau and have lost 13 pounds so far. I am still a little sore but it is getting better each day. I have one more week of the liquid diet, thankfully. I just wanted to say hi to everyone.

Hi everyone!

Lynn - hope everything goes well for your daughter. I don't think you stop worrying about them just because they aren't little!

Caelyn - It went fast didn't it? I know I thought it was real once I did my pre-op visit.

Dee - welcome! Congrats on your loss to date.

Restriction - It's funny, but for the most part now I think I have good restriction. I do eat only small portions. I am AMAZED at how little I actually eat now. I do think restriction is a moving target though. I anticipate that I will need more fills in the future, but not right now.

NSV alert ---> I fit into an XL!!!!

I knew I needed a new coat this year, and I want something WARM. So I was eyeing an LL Bean down coat. They are much more expensive in Women's sizes, so I was hoping that maybe, just maybe, I could squeeze into an XL. I was reluctant to spend $100 to try it though, so I got this one off of Ebay before making the investment....

L.L Bean Crimson Insulated Quilted Barn Jacket coat XL - eBay (item 300257064951 end time Sep-15-08 10:11:15 PDT)

And, it fits!!! A little tight in the belly, but not too bad. By cold weather it should do just fine.

I'm so excited. I haven't been in Misses sizes since college when I lost a lot of weight for a few months. Woohoo! I know I'm nowhere near XL in regular clothing. But I'm still excited. :) It's not an ugly, freezing cold Woman Within coat!

Hi!

Well, I finally believe I am at the sweet spot. I can still cheat, but anyone with 1/2 a brain can figure out how to cheat the band. But, I am currently at the point that I can eat what I should and feel full. It sure took me a while! Finally, my weight loss is taking off. I'm glad because I am self pay and I was beginning to think I paid a ton of money for something that would not work for me. I am really glad that I was wrong!

I plan to continue to write everything I eat down, continue to post here and continue to go to the support group meetings. I believe all those things are important.

I am changing, but a little afraid that the changes are not permanent. I guess I will deal with that fear for a while. I figure I have been fat for a very long time. (I have gone up and down the scale my whole life!) It will take a while to have confidence in the changes I have made. Meanwhile, the scale moving down is a very motivating thing. I am very close to having 40 pounds gone. I may actually lose 80 pounds by my one year anniversary. That is so very exciting to me!

Well, time to go out and enjoy the nice weather!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
