Breakfast ideas

Recommended Posts

Let me first say that I am not a cook, and even being 7 weeks out from surgery, I am a bit behind in where I should be with regards to meals. I am really at a loss for Breakfast ideas. My stomach wakes me each morning with stomach pangs, but nothing ever sounds good and so far can only take a few bites. What do you find keeps you sustained until the next meal? Thanks so much.

I eat an egg almost every morning. Kashi Go Lean is also good. Ezekial toast (found in the freezer section) with almond butter. Sometimes, I eat a piece of chicken in the morning and that sticks with me. Every Sunday I make a huge batch of chicken thighs and drumsticks in the oven in a casserole dish. I then bag them up for the week.

I haven't tried this yet but on Pinterest I saw where you make up a bunch of "mini" omelets in muffin tins. Supposed to be good reheated....

I scramble 1 egg, egg white and egg beaters with 2 tsp diet butter, onion, green pepper, fat-free cheese, salt, pepper, turkey sausage crumbles. I open 1 wedge of Laughing Cow Cheese and break it into small pieces to lay over the top before I cook the omelet. The cheese helps to make the eggs creamier so they go down easier. This gives me about 4 breakfasts, which I eat with a slice of turkey bacon microwaved. It also freezes well.

Does the toast or Kashi Go Lean ball up in your stomach at all? These are all great suggestions. Thanks.

I've never has this problem. Watch it with bread though. I don't eat regular bread, only Ezekial bread which is sprouted grain and gets very crunchy when you toast it. I can't usually finish the entire piece. I began eating Kashi Go Lean about 6 weeks out and had no problems at all. I measure it though and don't eat it everyday - just once a week or so. Grains are good for you despite the push for very low carbs, your body still needs some carbs - just need to eat the kind with a nutritional punch to them.

At 7 weeks out, my tummy was still PICKY, especially in the morning. My fav breakfast early out was greek yougurt made into a smoothie with a little Water, a splash of OJ, a couple of frozen strawberries, and Splenda to taste. I was closer to 9 months out before I could solid Protein before lunch.

I was lactose intolerant. If you are not, cottage cheese is another high-protein easy-to-digest choice.

If I was in a hurry or tummy was extra grumpy, I just had a Protein shake for breakfast.

I never have time on week day mornings to eat breakfast before work, so I take a couple string cheese with me to work to eat there. On weekends I fix up cream of week.

During my two weeks of pureed foods, I took low fat cottage cheese, added a little vanilla extract, cinnamon, and artificial sweetner. Put it through the blender until smooth, and it tastes like a cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting!

80 calories, 17 grams proteini in a 4 ounce serving.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
