Carb/fat/protein ratio

Recommended Posts

Can anyone remind me of the "ideal" ratio of each to eat is? Today I tried so hard not to eat a lot of carbs. I had no starch but the fruit I ate put me to 63g of carbs. I had 86g of Protein and 38g fat. I thought I did so good today and now I'm thinking my numbers are high. Any thoughts? And I swam laps for 45min

I have been wondering the same thing. I use the myfitnesspal app, so I just follow that and stay under 1200 calories. I know that since I am only a couple weeks post op, I won't get near 1200, but my nutritionist did tell me that I would be at 1200 calories a day after surgery. I assume that will be once off a restricted diet.

My best weight loss occurs when I stay at 600 - 800 calories, 20 grams or less carbs, 25 grams or less fat, 100 grams Protein and 100 ounces of Water.< /p>

The thing with carbs are that there are simple and complex carbs. My surgeon said that the carbs you get from fruits and vegetables in general aren't bad and shouldn't be worried about as much. so to that end I try not to sweat the carbs as long as it's not the starchy kinds.

I agree with you because I did not have any bread or starch today besides fruit and I didn't feel like I overdid it. Thanks!!

This is the same plan I follow. For me, calories dont really matter as much as low carb. Good or bad carbs are all the same. I am 10 months out and can still drop 2 lbs a week if I keep my carbs low. I dont think 2 lbs is bad since I have a normal bmi. Best of luck!

Ok I'm going to really monitor what I eat and try to stay in this range. My problem is that I had the lap band before the sleeve so now my restriction is less than others so I can eat a little more and the dr said my weight loss will be slow. This is a good equation to stick to. Thanks!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
