ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

Recommended Posts

I finally had my surgery on Monday. Things went great! I had to have a hiatal hernia repair which I was not expecting but I feel better overall than expected. The pain I feel is from gas and pain at the incision sites some. Last night' date=' had really bad gas pain, felt pressure in chest and sides and it was killing me. I was walking, walking around the house and that helped some but I finally took a gas-x strip and felt immediate relief. AMAZING!!!!

I'm thinking maybe I ate to much, so today trying to make sure I keep a journal of everything I consume to keep track. Hopefully, today will be better, so far it is. :)

Good luck to all on thus journey! Wish you the very best!!!!!!

No' date=' but only because the expectation is pretty low for me right now. The Doctor said there is no way I would be able to get it all in right away and to shoot for 40 grams, everyday trying to get closer and closer until the first 2 week follow up. I have been getting to 40 without to much problem for the past few days. This week I am going work on exceeding that amt doing better and better until I have the first follow-up. My Doc seemed way more concerned that I get in enough Fluid in the first few weeks then Protein so that is where my focus has been. Though I am sure they will up the requirements after that 2 week follow up! [/quote']

That's the same thing my Dr said but I don't want 2 loose hair that suck

Surgery is 4/23 & I've been weaning myself off coffee. This is my first hurdle to jump & I'm already finding it so difficult. I'm so TIRED!! I don't want to complain to anyone (as this is an elective procedure and I have made a decision to go through with it!). So here I am complaining to you all!! I will make it.

On the brighter side, I had my final appointment with my surgeon & my pre op liquid diet includes some broth, fruits and veggies as well as the Protein shakes! That will definitely make life a little easier. I also made my final payment to him and found out that because I am a nurse in the system where I will have the surgery, they are waiving my hospital co-pay!!

I have noticed a little more Hair loss than normal, but I do my best to eat high Protein and no carbs. Almost like the South Beach Diet. No bread, chips, sugar etc. My taste had changed, I know longer can tolerate a coke, which Ur not supposed to have anyway, but I had to have one and glad I took a drink because it was awful. candy, Cookies etc taste like pure sugar, don't miss them now.I make a sandwich with one sesame Wasa cracker, ham and cheese. No need for chips,u get Ur crunch per say from the cracker. Also, I love Ede mama peas. You take them out of the pods and they are high in protein. I eat them like pop corn. I still drink my Protein Shakes, love boiled eggs, cottage cheese, yams with I can't believe it's not butter. Turkey Chile, Water, ice tea. I did not like crystal lite. The after taste was awful. But, everybody is different and what works for one may not work for another. Good luck! Trust me..it only gets better.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
