5 days! FIVE!!

I'm so excited and ready to get this show on the road. Wrote short letters to my children and have my bags packed. Cashiers check and cash in my wallet, check. Gotta get the AT&T mx package and I think I'm ready!!

I'm going to Tijuana to Hospital MI doctor, and will be sleeved by dr. Garcia. I feel very confident in my choice. . I have to wake up at 2:30 am to head out the door at 3:45. Gonna get to the airport around 4:45 and the plane leaves 2 hours later. I don't think I'll get much sleep thurs night. Lol

i started my journey last April. I feel as though I've been trough a lot to get me to this point and being so close feels like a dream. I'm not well off and I haven't been thin since I was 16. I just keep repeating in my head "things like this never happen to me!" And it's happening. It's really truly going to happen for me. ( well, lord willing). Praise god!

So I suppose this will be my countdown/update thread. )

I think that we are going against the principles of VST if we are not giving full, open and honest evaluations of our experiences. That is especially true on the Mexican Forum, where most of us are dealing with so many unknowns.

My experience of the medical care at Mi Doctor was overwhelmingly positive. I loved the fact that that there was a doctor on duty all night long. It was great that the pain/nausea medication came right on schedule, without having to request it. When I was experiencing excessive pain, I requested a doctor and she arrived to evaluate me (at 2 am) and then ordered additional medication.

However, the hospital itself is very basic. It's patient floor cleanliness is acceptable, but not antiseptic. The nursing staff's skill level varies significantly, depending on who is on duty. There was one shift of especially young and inexperienced nurses and I observed a couple of mistakes being made as they added the pain/nausea meds to my IV. During that shift that my saline drip bag went dry...the only time it happened, but it did happen once. One final note: don't expect to be pampered by the nursing staff; you are pretty much responsible for your own care, although I'm sure you can get assistance if you need it. Many of these differences are cultural, and I don't think that they had any negative impact on my recovery.

I chose to go to Dr. Garcia because I had great faith in his surgical skills and his team of doctors. I definitely made the right choice! All the doctors spoke excellent English, and I received excellent care from all of them. My Mi Doctor experience was not as glowing as has been posted by some on VST; it was adequate. Most importantly, I always knew that if a problem developed, I could request a doctor's visit and that a doctor would be at my bedside, even at 2 am.

Dang, didnt mean to upset people or break rules. My mind is also still quite a fog from lack of sleep and well body trauma? Nothing bad, I'll post later about it when I'm home and can write up a thorough review. Or that's the plan at least.

Basically I told them if give my experience a 3.5 and not to worry. And that as I get settled into the ways they do things here, the more I feel comfortable and confident in my decision.

Although the Marriott is near the hospital it is too far to walk. Therefore a visit is out of the question unless you want to take a taxi. I am at the Marriott which is very nice very clean and staff very willing to make your stay comfortable. They will pick us up this morning. There are three of us for surgery today. Very anxious! Rohler make phone arrangements. My phone doesn't work. Using my friends kindle on wi fi to keep in touch. Couldn't get the wifi to work on my phone but I am technologically challenged. Amy, I was going to come see you yesterday when we got here but u we not next door as I expected. I thought the hospital and Marriott were closer together. Marlygirl and I r at the Marriott and are going to the hospital at 11am. I hate the waiting and no food or drink all day. That is hard but I have been faced with worse challenges. With any luck, we will meet up sometime today. Btw, how u feeling today?

It's so great you all get to meet each other. I love that!

I think meeting each other brings us closer together and not feeling so isolated. We all know we are not alone in this battle. But, we are doing something to better our lives. We all need buddies or as my husband calls us belly buddies.
