So I am 13 days post op. I have lost 21 pounds since surgery. 35 since pre op diet. I started having pain under right rib cage. And hurts taking deep breath. Is this a gallbladder issue? This quick?

Most likely the internal sutures being stretched from bending and twisting most people experience that.

When I had my gall bladder problems it was under my right rib cage, I think that gall bladder problems are quite common after bariatric surgery. You might want to contact your surgeon and ask him about checking it. Hope you feel better soon!

I had that too and was warned about it by my surgeon's office. It is most likely the normal internal stitches thing. It's a rude awakening when you have been pretty pain free since a little after surgery, now suddenly it hurts again. For me it lasted about a week or so, then it went away as quickly as it came on. I have heard it can vary in intensity.

I don't have any sutures anywhere near the area where it hurts. I'm going for my post op appointment on Tuesday. I am not doubting I may be in for gallbladder problems. Just didn't expect it so soon. We will see. I'm happy at my weight 252. I was originally 345 when I got my lap band 6 years ago. So I have to yo yo'd a lot. So my gallbladder may just have had it with me.

Oh wait, you said the pain is on the right side- my internal suture pain was on the left side near my "big" incision. Could be gas pain, too. I thought that in general gall bladder pain was more "centralized", like in the center of the chest or back. I had my GB out while on the table for my sleeve surgery, thank God. I had periodic aches in my back between my shoulder blades caused by my gallstones which are gone now.

The pain can be on either side depending on the way your doctor performs the surgery and the sutures would be internal not external.

But you are very right bring it up to your doctor!

Good luck to you :)

Gallbladder is located under right rib cage. I've had many weight loss surgeries unfortunately. Two lap band and the sleeve. This pain is nowhere near any incision and I know what incisional pain is like. I'm just concerned that with my up and down loss over the years that this recent loss of 36 pounds in less than a month may be the kicker.

Then you should really make haste and see your doctor!!

The deep breath thing can be an indication of gall bladder.....

Seems to be a lot of gallbladders going lately :(

Good luck!

When my gallbladder went bad, the pain was right sided, and more intense when I held my breath. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
