Valentine's Sleeve.

Recommended Posts

Hi. Im a new member. I had my vertical sleeve on Valentine's Day. So i guess I am 10 days post op. I have a lot of questions. At my 1 week appointment I had lost 18 pounds. I am now down 23 pounds. I haven't lost any weight in three days. I kinda feel on my own as far as diet goes. I got no real instruction on to how much of anything I should be consuming. I was just told to start on creamy liquids. Like Soups ,milk, puddings and things like that. I know im not getting in enough protien.? What should I be eating? How much liquids? For 3 days i had really bad diarrhea. Is that normal? Im also experienceing some new pain what feels like its under my rib cage. Is that normal? Healing pain maybe? Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome!

You sound right in track with the weight loss In fact that's a lot of loss so your body needs resting periods to adjust.. then it will start to come off again.

You should be recording your daily intake to make sure you hit your Protein goals ( 60 grams or so)

You will want to work up to 64 oz of Water a day

this early out drinking a Protein shake might be good.

And the pain you feel on your left side is most likely from the internal sutures ( normal)

:)

Oh and as far as amounts start at 2oz at a time and eat very slow wait a minute of two in between bites.

[Edit] the diarrhea in the first few weeks is very normal it will go away and when you start solids. A lot if people then deal with Constipation so a Fiber supplement down the road may be in order.

Thanks Laura!

I figured the pain was normal. How long did it last you? I am defiantly not getting anywhere near the Protein or Water intake I need so I need to address that. :)

Hi! How are you doing? Are you having pain on your left side too?

I am currently a stay at home Mom so I did not have to take any time off of work. I'm just still not allowed to workout or lift my 18month old. How are you doing with your diet?

Hi I'm a stay at home mom too! As a matter of fact my son wants to bake today so we came up with a recipe for orange biscuits .. ( not on my diet) so I'm about to bake with him.

But the pain lasts about a week or two, try and limit twisting, bending.

And you are very new.. Water is very important but you will be able to build up to 64 oz soon enough just make sure your sipping all day in between meals

I drink a Premier Protein shake every morning to help with Protein ( 30g) but once again considering the stage you are on protein is something you will have to "build" up to!

:)

Laura

I agree with everything Laura said. And my favorite Protein by far is the premier. It's delicious!!! And you only need two a day to get your 60 grams in. Very easy! Try it! You can get it at Costco!

Marcy,

Have you tried the Quest bars yet? So yummy, GNC sells them. They are pricey but awesome. The apple pie reminds me of apple cinnamon oatmeal. You are suppose to microwave them for 5-20 seconds before.

Great advice Laura! I like Syntrax the best so far, especially the Cappuccino tho I am still trying all the samples I have ordered. I really prefer one scoop even if it is a half serving of the Bariatric Advantage and Chike. The Protein Shots are kind of grossly thick and sweet but mixed with Water and ice made them better.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
