Hi ! My name is Pamela B. and I THINK I'm having a JULY surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. Just to be different I am from Brisbane Australia and my surgery date is 9th July after having my band removed 18yh April. No diets or anything required over here or hoops to jump through for insurance approval luckily. I look forward to hearing everyone's success stories :)

I have a day scheduled in July, too. I have to send in my deposit this week but for some reason I keep talking myself out of it. I keep saying to myself, just try another diet... But obviously if that would work, I would have done it years ago!

After you finally scheduled your surgery, were you at peace with your decision?

Yes. I'm very excited. Like you said if traditional diets worked for us we would not be even looking into wls. I'm determined to keep my eyes on all the positives that this life changing experience is going to have in my life!

Regarding being at peace, I'd say yes and no. Most of the time I'm excited and eager for July 24 to get here. Overall I have a really positive outlook about the surgery. However, I do have some occasional moments of worry and doubt, where I wonder if I really tried hard enough, if I should postpone and give it one more try, yada, yada. I just remind myself that I've been there, done that, and one more try will likely mean another year before I finally fix this.

My pre-op is on July 8th....counting the days. ;)

I am now thinking I will be late July. I have done my 6 month diet, my EGD, manometry, psyche eval, etc. I submitted all of these requirements may 15th. Then insurance said I would also have to submit a cardiac and pulmonary clearance. I found that out and got orders for that a week and a half ago. Friday I did my last thing and now as soon as the office gets the reports, they will turn it into insurance. My surgeon schedules a month out:(. So I'm waiting anxiously. I am in Orlando, FL. I'm 43 years old and my current (and highest weight) is 230. I'm 5'4".

Hi Pamela. My name is Stephanie. I am hopefully going to be sleeved in July, as well. I had my first of four required "diet" visits on March 14. I am 5'4" and 235-240, so we're very very close in size. I am 45 and my husband and I reside in Texas. I will try to stay on here as much as possible so we can stay in touch with each other. My job is very demanding and stressful so I may miss a few days here and there, but I will eventually come back. I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful journey for you. . .for us. May the Lord keep you well before, during, and after you are sleeved.

I'm 5'4'', 242 pounds, 45 years old and live in Texas, too! I hope to have surgery in July at Methodist, Dallas. I would like to keep in touch with both of you because we all seem to be starting at about the same place.

Hi y'all. I am so excited for everyone finding out about their surgery dates. I may be pushed to August. I have my 4th & final Aetna required appt next Friday but my sleep study is on Monday & the results will take 7-10 days so my submission to Aetna won't even happen until probably July 3rd, at best. As long as I am approved, then it can wait til August, right? So, July is just around the corner & I want y'all to know that I am praying for your surgical teams & hospital staffing to give every one of you the best care & for rapid healing with successful outcomes. You girls rock! I am so proud of each of us for realizing that it's okay to ask for help. I know I can't do it on my own & the sleeve will give us the needed help to become healthy. I can't wait until this time next year when we are able to share our before & after pics! Yay!!!!

My surgery is July 30 in Mexicali Mexico - My insurance prohibits coverage on anything to do with weight loss, so i'm self pay. I got to choose the date, I wanted the 26th but I had to go with the dates we could get the dogs&cats boarded. I can't wait!!

Good Morning All,

I too have taken the journey that most of you are still in i.e. psychologist, nutritionist, egd, lab, letter of recommendation, two year history of weight, and attempts at weight loss. Currently I received my letter of approval from my insurance company (Aetna) and was given a date of July 25th in that letter, but it may be sooner. (paperwork submitted May 29th. Approval letter received June 15th) I have begun to prepare for the post op by purchasing Protein shakes, popcicles, etc. chewable Vitamins are in place, and now on the pre-op liquid diet to shrink the liver. I am SO Excited about the new journey and also nervous because I am that person that eats because I need comfort or just because I know it was there. I am 5'7 with a starting weight of 269. Current weight is 262 and that lost was just from the 3 month span of nutritional visits of which I was not required to lose any weight from. I began the process on January 18th 2013. It is a lengthy process, but if you are willing to stick with a major lifestyle change for a better you, then this for you! Some have told me that I actually did not have a very long process and I credit all of that to my surgeons insurance coordinator because I was very much informed about what my insurance required, and what I would need to have in order to get approved. I did what I was instructed and now I am just that much closer to where I want to be! I just want to encourage all of you to stick with it, not everyone will be on your side in this. (I learned that from experience) You have to choose not to listen to the Nay sayers and do what is best for you and your health. In the long run, I know that this will be a great decision for one because I am doing this for ME!!! Good luck to all of you in your endevours. I will continue to make post to keep you all informed as to my progress and feel free to message me. Blessings

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
