Any April sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I'm an April sleever! My surgery is April 1st. As my friend said I'm no fool for changing my life on April Fools day. I so agree. My all day call with my nurse and nutritionist is march 19th. I'm already working onto meal plans and getting ready. Good luck to all the April Sleevers!!

I will share for sure. Im sure they will give you a manual. I received my patient education manual 2 weeks ago with all the info from my WLS Team. It reviews surgery, foods and follow ups. and mine is in detailed. I have my 2 hr pre-op appointment with my nurse and nutritionist on march 19. The manual has ideas of foods we can have. I'm buying my broths, Jello and 100%fruit juices. I'm freezing the juice to make my Popsicles for day 1-3. I'm stocking up on my Protein powder and Protein Powder for my Water. Days 4-7 for me is full liquids so Im going to make my Soups and freeze them so I have them ready. I found some great low carb recipes for my week 2-4 of puréed food. I'm having ham salad, chicken salad and egg salad made. I'm also stocking up on baby food in the squeeze pouches. I love them. Babies r us has them on sale 8 for $10. I love the fruit and veggie mixes. My toddles love them! I think the better prepared I am with my food the better I will feel I'm also taking between 1000mg to 2000 mg of Vitamin C before surgery. It helps with healing of tissues. I did this with my previous lap surgery for my gall bladder. It really helped me heal fast. Ill gather my puréed meat salad recipes if you are interested. They are low fat and low carb.

I'd love the pureed meat salad recipes. I make a curried chicken salad, but I don't know that curry is something I should have in the days of healing. lol... Unfortunately, I'm kind of comfined to chicken, turkey, ham, and egg salad, as I have allergens to seafood/fish.

I'd be more than happy to share. Once I gather them together, I'll put them in a reply on this page. Im not sure about curry either but curry chicken salad is yummy!! id chevk with tje nutritionsit. my family is Mexican and we love spicy food. Im not sure how im going to survive without my spices. I hate to hear about your food sllergies. I really don't care for seafood myself other than crawfish and mahi mahi. Everything else is gross. I will send those recipes soon and I hope you have a great day!!

Thank You! Vitamin C? Would chewables work? How do you freeze egg, chicken, and the other salads? Won't it taste weird? I sure would love other low carb meals! My nutrition class is all day. :/ I guess that's a good thing! My class is March 26. The more information we have, the more ready we'll be.:)

I've read on here that Biotin helps with Hair loss. I think I'm going to add that to my daily Vitamin ritual! Have you started taking any yet? What lists did they give you to take daily? Sorry again for all the questions.

Anyone else a ball of emotions?

Yep, I go back and forth between feeling that this is the best/worst thing I could do for myself.

I wrote this post the other night. Pretty much sums up my feelings on surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
