To food funeral or not?

Recommended Posts

Ofcourse I eat cheeseburgers lol. They are 100% veggieburgers. They are Bocaburgers lol made on the grill. I dont do much groundmeat, cause I dont want to eat the scraps from other meats gross.

Before surgery a friend asked me if I was going to have "one last big night out" ie a food funeral.

I said "I have an inappropriate relationship with food. If I had an inappropriate relationship with my sister, I wouldn't go out on one last date before breaking it off"

I don't see any upside to a food funeral. But that's me.

PS I don't have a sister

Well said. None of the bad stuff has even sounded good enough to eat, but I think I'll still have sushi tomorrow, just in case rice doesn't agree with me after being sleeved. =)

I can honestly say that I don't see what the point of a food funeral would be. I understand the concept but in reality, once you are fully healed and have progressed thru all of the steps your surgeon's guides will bring you thru, there really isn't much of anything you won't every be able to have again.

Now, granted, there will be things that you just plain don't want anymore but that's totally different. I am finding that there are certain things I just don't want anymore b/c the thought of it or the taste of it has changed somehow but I'm really able to eat pretty much any thing.

Save your money, and your guilt, for something more deserving of both. :D

I thought long and hard about it, but never did it. I really, really came close. I had Chipotle once, steak and veggie burrito and frozen yogurt, but that really wasn't out of the ordinary for me at the time after a big workout, lots of Protein, 60g protein in that one meal. But didn't do the whole all out binge fest, and I felt tons better afterwards.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
