Having second thoughts!

Recommended Posts

Is your surgery scheduled? It all depends on how you feel. Your age' date=' your bmi, etc...you do what you need to do for you![/quote']

I dont know what you believe in but I know my god is powerful he never fails me! You have to believe that. You are important and know one has to be stuck in a body they dont like. I question the anastesia becaasue I have never done it. But nothing will keep me off that table good luck to you! everything will be fine, just remember nothing taste as good as thin feels!

Yes I am scheduled for march 7th. I'm afraid. I have never had a surgery and afraid of everything. Going wrong. I was ok up until they approved my surgery

Dont, everyday you walk outside there is a risk !breath positivity everyday untill your surgery! be patent with yourself. think about how great you will look and how much your life can and will improve! keep away from negative people. dont tell anyone who seems negative! good luck to you.

I actually think the women that posted that crap! just wanted everyone to know she was a doctor? any brite individual knows that that no one getiing surgery wants to hear that another doctor said dont do it. i have never had a doctor be negative, Im going to kiezerand they have a great success rate and say the only reson bad things happen is if you dont move dont breath, have a leak feel sick and dont go to the doctor! Im kinda pissed, anyone who was confident thought twice ter reading that stupid post how dumb, she should be removed. or apologize for such an inteligent person to make such silly comments! dont second guess your decisions just do it! or you gonna look back and what ifs and continue to get fatter and sadder! smh

I am having second thought about the surgery. I am nervous about getting it done and my parents keep telling me not to get it done. Thy are afraid something is going to happen to me during or after surgery. Since they are not fully supportive right now its giving me second thoughts and becoming afraid of what can happen. Has anyone gone through this? Idk what to do.

I had the same concerns. My date was 2/4. I was so nervous I ordered my husbands valentines day gift to be delivered and wrote sealed letter to him and each of my kids. The only problem Ive had is getting 60 grams of Protein down a day. No complications what so ever. After 10 days the pAin has subsided and I go back to work next week. Do your research on your surgeon. Remember they dont want any mistakes or complications just as much as you dont.

The way I look at it is, if a diet works, it would be just called the way. I've tried so many times and have won sometimes but always seemed to lose in the end. My family at first was against it. I was just a big guy (6'6" 345lbs) tough. Well i dont feel tough when im so tired of carring this weight. Seeing my waist grow and always wanting to change but always knowing the outcome. My family seen my struggles and now support me. Im not doing it for my looks, im doing it to be around for my kids. That is what ill be thinking while they wheel me into the O.R. Think of what you want the most from this surgery, and use that to drown the doubt. Ramble done.

I may have read or maybe dreamed that she had very little to lose....like 20lbs and that's why there discouraged her....I maybe crazy! I thought I read that!

I appreciate all of you. I keep going back and forth with myself because I just wish I had full support. But in the in, I know I'm the one who's suffering not them. I'm ready to be free. Ready for a new beginning. Live for my children. Ready to love myself again.

I found that a lot of times when a family member doesn't "support" you it is just fear and they really don't know how to articulate it..

Perhaps talking to your daughter about her feelings would help?

I completely understand how you are feeling. I was ok until I was approved and scheduled. The I freaked out. I ended up canceling , the day came and went and now I constantly think I would be on the road to the new me rather than still wondering what to do. I am still scared which has caused me to not reschedule as of yet. I really want to but am trying to overcome the fear. Wish I just went through with it. Make your decision and don't look back.

I am now almost 3 weeks out, and I can say one thing for certain. This surgery is not for the weak at heart. It requires courage. Courage to face your demons. Courage to decide to make a lifetime decision, with no turning back. Courage to not let other's judgements define who I am! The surgery itself...not very scary. The lifetime commitment is what you have to really think through.

It is the most radical thing I have ever done. It is the most selfish thing I have done for myself, yet the most unselfish thing I have done for my family. It has been worth every ounce of fear, restlessness, judgement, anxiety...because I took control back of my life!

So my advice is...you have to make a decision that you and you alone will be happy with. Then be confidant in that decision. Don't give anyone the option to talk you out of it.

Reading that everyone has had almost the same feelings As me makes me feel better. My sister seems to be better than me. She is actually getting the surgery the same day as me. I need this surgery. I have been through all the diets. My bf is there for me 100%. He's actually a personal trainer and he has seen how much of a struggle keeping the weight is for me. He had tried to help but I gain it right back. I'm going to find a way to rule out the negativity and think positive and what this surgery will do for me!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
