Nut visits by phone?

Recommended Posts

Here's my dilemma. Coordinator told me 3 month diet history was all that was required. Print out WW progress notes and all will be well. However everything I see about Cigna says I need a 3 month supervised diet by a RD or MD. I have attempted to find someone local without success--as I don't want to waste 3 months. I'm already 5 weeks into my diet.

So here's the problem. I travel for my job and am away from home from Monday am to Friday pm. It doesn't leave much time to see anyone. Do any of you have a nut that does phone visits for out of state patients? I am willing to pay cash.

I appreciate any referrals! Thank you.

You might want to check with your insurance because mine specifically says it has to have significant face to face time.

Here's what it says...doesn't sound like it has to be in person?

Medical management including evidence of active participation within the last 12 months in a weight- management program that is supervised either by a physician or a registered dietician for a minimum of three consecutive months. The weight-management program must include monthly documentation of ALL of the following components:

 weight

 current dietary program

 physical activity (e.g., exercise program)

Programs such as Weight Watchers®, Jenny Craig® and Optifast® are acceptable alternatives if done in conjunction with the supervision of a physician or registered dietician and detailed documentation of participation is available for review. However, physician-supervised programs consisting exclusively of pharmacological management are not sufficient to meet this requirement.

I saw her today for my consult. She only does the assessments. No ongoing evals. I was hoping she would, that's why I waited before figuring something out.

You have to be weighed each month in an office for the MD to chart your weight for 3 consecutive months. Along with other information. If this is important to you - you should find the time to find the right place that will help ya. Don't be in a hurry either -this is your life. Good luck.

How about joining Weight Watchers and schedule monthly visits with your doc. Based on what your listed as your insurance requirements, wouldn't that work?

Ccarter I would find a different doc. If you are mot set on this one. My surgery price with dr. curry included 2 years of follow up with surgeon and NUT. If traveling they have an option to do via video camera on compute or phone.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I am doing WW but it will be hard to see my doc monthly. I will keep trying!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
