Official results came in on my 10K race Saturday. Men's 40/over bracket....... I took first. Never in my life did I think that would happen.

My first race is tomorrow! I chose a 4 mile relay. My son and I are a team' date=' we each run 2 miles![/quote']

Awesome! That sounds really fun. I would love to do that with a BFF or one of my kids.

W1D1 completed yesterday during 2:00PM Texas Heat in a hoodie :) I figure if I can make it in that then it should be pretty easy in a tshirt in the afternoon :) Going to try doing it again tonight after the trainer kicks my arse. Going for my first training session tonight too. Trying to get in shape for Air Force fit test!

Good luck! You can do it.

Ran a 10K race this morning in San Antonio. My fastest time ever. It was nice running a new trail' date=' and there were some amazing runners there. Had fun and finished early enough to still have post run waffle.

Congratulations!!!!!

I know this is a little off topic but has anyone tried a fit bit?

I have a Jawbone Up and am liking it. It also is motivating me to get more movement in daily.

Awesome job! Congratulations and hope your better soon.

I've always wanted to become a jogger/runner... I was released for full activity last week and am hoping to start the couch25k app this evening or tomorrow morning. Pretty nervous and excited about it. The area I live in has beautiful outdoor spaces, and I look forward to expanding my world a bit more to include the outside world!

I've heard from jogger folks around town that you have to have a certain rhythm/flow to jogging. Anyone know anything about that? Timing for steps and breathing?

Check out this website...

http://www.goodformrunning.com/

It has good info on form, pace, cadence and posture.

Timing for steps is your cadence. Yes, 180 steps per minute is the general guideline...but remember it's just that, a guideline. Try to hit it, but if you're more comfortable a few beats up or down then that's okay. Breathing is more subjective. I started out puffing like I was blowing up a hot air balloon. Eventually I landed on 4 steps per breath. But now I don't even think about breathing. My breathing pace is dictated now by my speed. At first it's very hard to find a breathing rhythm, but very soon it gets to be automatic.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
