FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

To all my fellow February sleevers...... I have had a really big day in the last few days. I have lost over 100lbs, no longer have a bunch of meds or need to worry that I'm going to have a stroke at any moment, and I had a Tummy Tuck done on wed to get rid of the loose skin. I will never have to worry again about getting a disgusting yeast infection in my belly rolls that stinks like rotten ass! All of this has been accomplished in 9 months! My sleeve surgery was Feb 21st and I am so proud of the accomplishments I have made. I am careful to not over eat but at the same time do not deny myself a treat. I really hope and pray that all the other sleevers have had a similar wonderful journey. Share your finest moment since ur surgery.

Congratulations Pammycakes! Hope you recover from your TT with ease! I have been so thankful for this surgery and the results, 88lbs down so far. I still have 16lbs to lose to reach my goal. I plan on rewarding myself by going shopping for some new cloths. Of course I've had to do that already. I was squeezing into size 24W and now I wear 16W in pants and 14/16 on top or an XL. It sure is a lot more fun shopping for cloths! Everything is a lot more fun!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving every one! Today is my 9 month surgiversairy and I'm so thankful for it! I'm down 88 lbs! I have been in a stall for the pst month but I'm gonna keep working at it. I find that I struggle with head hunger a lot. Stress really makes me want to eat. But also I have real hunger. I was hoping I wouldn't care about food and not really want to eat but for me that is not the way it is. Thankfully, I can't eat all that much! Blessing to you all!

You're determination and persistence will overcome all

DOS 2/20/13. SW 224. CW 168. GW 135. The first 3 months I lost an Ave of 10 lbs per month and I've slowed to 5 lbs per month since June but it pushes me to start running and hiking and now weight training to continue the losing which improves my health so I am satisfied though anxious and striving to hit my next goal of 150 then hopefully 135. I am humbled and impressed to no end at the awesome and inspiring group of losers I am a part of. Cheers fellow February'ers!!

It's been almost a year now. I had surgery on 2-12-13. I've lost 91 lbs! I feel so much better. Haven't had the first issue, didn't lose any hair, have not been hungry, have not regretted surgery for a second. My husband is being sleeved on 1-2-14. I'm excited for him. I'm learning to enjoy buying clothes once again. People at work call me skinny sometimes. Had one person who didn't know me ask me how I stay to slim and trim. Love it!!

Definitely experienced a slow-down during the past few months, but am happy with my over-all progress. I should hit my goal weight before my 1 year surgi-versary. Good luck to all!

I think the rate of weight loss slows the closer you are to your goal. At this point I feel like I have to exercise a lot to keep things going and also keep track of what I'm eating.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
