I'm still in the pre-op phase. Tomorrow is the last step before my case is submitted to the insurance (and I just started this process last Friday!) Yesterday I met with a nutritionist and was given a reference guide of dietary directions after I'm sleeved. I noticed that Gatorade and Powerade aren't on the list, but that it says "sugar-free non-carbonated drinks" are allowed. That means that G2 and no sugar Powerade 0 should be ok, right? I have a big fear of dehydration and want to prevent it at all costs. I'm told a little Gatorade helps with that. Thoughts?

My doc told me, if it's sugar free and non carbonated it was okay to drink post-op. I haven't tried either one, I'm a lemonade Crystal Light kinda guy. :-)

I am sure they are ok as long as they are sugar free. Gatoraid and such are good for rehydration if you are dehydrated from Fluid loss like sweat of diarrhea and vomiting. It helps to replace the electrolytesthat are lost with those general fluid loss. so unless you are having massive diarrhea your electrolytes should be fine you only need to keep up with your Water intake. and water is much cheaper:)

My doc said G2 or Vitamin Water are fine. Have been drinking both.

If you give in to your body, drinking doesn't feel "fantastic" right after surgery or two days post op. But today was better than yesterday! I will have my 64 ounces in before bed. But it does feel a bit funky!

If you are pre-op and already worried about dehydration, you will be a good post-op drinker because you are aware of the need.

If the G2 is too sweet for you, you could do like I do and cut it with half Water. I get the N2 (generic G2) from Aldi for about $.60 for a 32 oz. bottle. I like the purple the best...let's not call it "grape", lol. :) It definitely helped me get through the first few months...I just couldn't get enough water. Somehow the half and half was able to go down better and I'd be able to get the 64 oz. in.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
