Denise822 - are you sure it's the pictures?

I don't know yet....(cause I've only lost 11 lbs on this little pre-op thing)

But I was reading another thread on here that people still see themselves 60,70,80 lbs ago, that when they look at the mirror they still see the "fat" verison...basically your head has not caught up with your body type of thing.....just a thought....because when Manatee posted his pics, I thought he looked awesome (as did a lot of others too) but he was still unsure, ya know?

Just a thought...

I still see myself as a huge, overweight, unfit person, even though I have run in to a couple fairly close friends who have really talked me up and one of them did not even recognize me. Yet I am reluctant to believe all that they are saying based on what I see in the mirror. I guess I am all screwed up!

I have been trying to get some new pictures taken. Even though I have lost 50 lbs. I still look really fat in pictures. I am going to have to lose a bunch more before I can get a decent picture. And it's not just my imagination. The people (friend and daughter) both agreed with me that I need to keep losing. It's depressing. I need to find a decent pose too.

I have been reading these posts - new to this forum...

Just one thought on dating with a new thinner body after lapband..it isn't a guarantee that you will be dating more...

I have many single thin girlfriends who don't get asked out..

It's your personality that shines through gals...just keep smiling...

I don't know how much you want to lose to be healthy. It took me about 100 pounds before people really noticed. I was 378 now I am 206. Drastic change, although some people think I changed my hair or my glasses! lol I went from a size 28/3x to a 14/16 Keep up the good work.

I am doing pretty well. I blew it last weekend when I went away for the weekend. We were eating all meals out and I ended up gaining 5 lbs. I have lost 4 of them during this week.

I am a little disgusted with Match. com and E Harmony. I would really like it if I would at least get an email from someone, but no such luck.

OMG Manatee that is AWESOME!! Way to go!! You are going to be fighting them off with sticks!!

Congrats April on your surgery date! That is sooo exciting! :o

Not too much new on the single front for me. I've been dating - a couple new first dates a few dates with exes or old friends. I almost feel like I need to refocus a bit though and work on losing this last 40 lbs. Dating equals a lot of eating out and drinks, which don't necessarily work well with losing weight. That, and I need to join the gym and really start working out. So we'll see.

I wonder how JC is doing? He had a date and we've yet to see him back.....lol.

Hi to everyone else! :D

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
