Way to go Chrispy! I think I would hang onto that guy if I were you! That is such a cool gift. I'm sorry I missed your birthday. I've been really sick the past couple of weeks. Hope you had a great day!

So...kinda embarrassing to ask but, how does one go about getting back into the dating game? Any advice?

I am going to wait until I feel a bit better about my body first but...you never know do you.

Derick: Don't wait to get back in the game! I personally had good luck with online dating... that's how I met my dbf (2 years ago) before him, I had mixed luck, but boy was I busy.. and it was fun.... between emails, phone calls and the casual dates... I was always busy

I first joined Eharmony... I think the trick with them is to only do it for a few months.. otherwise you run out of potential matches, I had several matches that got to the email and phone part, and I actually dated 3 of the guys more than once.(one guy was semiserious, but too intense)......

All very different, but all that I had things in common with.......

Match.com..... had ok luck, but more of a meat market

on a whim I joined Yahoo because they were running some kind of mothers day special or something and I met several guys off there......

I had nicknames for them and the last guy I dated a few times ended up being a FREAK.... he was an IT guy and we got to the point that we would be arguing over the IM....... he actually gave my laptop a virus.. After him I WAS DONE.... then I got a faceless email from a person that made me laugh out loud.. the only reason I even responded was because he was funny..... (I was like.. hey dude your hilarious but I don't respond to people who don't post pics... I'm quitting yahoo.. so thanks for the last laugh) he ended up being on line and quickly gave me his real email before I cancelled........... and that was it.......and two years ago.

This is how I would work it....

1. email(s)

2. phone call (s)(via cell so that it could NOT be traced to my address)

3. meet somewhere neutral for a casual date.. (in my own car)

4. regular date if all went well and we both liked each other.

(oh and I never introduced my son to any of my casual dates, actually he only met dbf)

GOOD LUCK!

(You meet a lot of different people that are out of your normal circle of friends, some will be freaks, some will be nice but no sparks, and if your lucky you will have sparks with a couple... and of those couple one might be the lasting kind of sparks)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that things are going GREAT with tattoo boy. I am really quite smitten with him. lol. We are getting along really well, and I like him more everytime I see him. I'm heading to his place tonight and I am looking forward to seeing where he lives. It should tell me a lot! The funniest part about this is that he was someone I was really not interested in online. But I thought what the heck, and met him on a whim. You never know I guess! lol

I hope everyone else is doing well!!

I KNOW!!! He was fun when we went out, (he was on a pool league, and we'd meet up on his league nights.. his friends were a hoot) but he had major personality issues.... he did not take it well when I finally said... SEE YA FREAKBOY! :biggrin1: (his nickname became bipolar boy) because when he was UP he was really up, and in an instant he would be way out there.

Joan, I love callin you woots, too, thoughLOL--I hope you and this guy hit it off! And living close to your daughter does make for nice weekends, seeing the family and possibly the man. Good Luck. I am glad to hear you are feeling better.

MissyC, hey did you ever get that book? by Houston? I can't find it at the library for free, so I guess I am going to buy it. Sorry folks, information from another thread.

Chrispy, I am so excited for you. Although I don't like a lot of tattoos, I don't mind a few, but you know what you like, and all that really matters is how you treat each other, and mostly that he treats you like a princess.

TracyinKS, I think you have a good strategy for dating. Have you ever read "He's just not that into you?" or "why men love bitches?" They are hilarious. I would recommend them to anyone trying to date. Well, except for men, I guess they already know this stuff.

JDru, ok we haven't heard much from you lately, what gives? No information coming from your end? How's life?

Lee4love1, well if thats not a pickup line of some sort, I don't know, but welcome to our little tribe of singles, keep posting, we need some male input every once in a while.

Where's Derek?

So here is my latest. I went out with "longhair" again. This is our second date. Haven't seen him since before I hurt my leg fighting that tree limb, so tis bean a wheel. Anyway, he was cuter than I remembered him, so that was a big plus, but we got along great, and I felt like I could open up to him, so I was pretty comfortable. He told me I was intriguing, which is cool, because when I am skinnier, men are ALWAYS about looks, never about what I THINK. We didn't get real romantic or anything, but he kissed me at the end of the date, and he has a bit of a scratchy little mustache, and he asked me if I liked men with mustaches, and I said sure, as long as you aren't a leg man! (BC we had just discussed my big scars on my legs from the battle with the tree limb and how I had better not meet any leg men). Although what I REALLY wanted to say was something along the lines of "it depends on what body part you are kissing as to whether or not I like mustaches"LOL But I was a GOOD girl and didn't say that BAD thing. And so now he thinks I am humorous also! So I am having a pretty good time with him.

Thanks for listening,

Kristi

I'm single, but not really looking right now. I've decided to take this time to focus on losing weight and getting my health in order.

Well...I'm around, but I'm afraid nothing much is happening on the dating front for me. I did sign up for E-Harmony and it sucks ass. There were like 4 matches when I first signed up and now none. Apparently there are NO matches for me in the entire state of Utah. My friend from Pittsburgh keeps trying to get me to post of Cragislist, but last time I checked it there was some guy who wanted to donate his "baby juice" and I can't handle that. :)

There is this guy from high school that I got reacquainted with at my 10 year reunion in the summer. But he's SO not my type...but I think he's interested. Maybe I'll hang out with him just to practice dating. I'm starting to see the benefits of an arragned marriage.

Jessica,

Look out, I re-met my old junior high school boyfriend in November, thinking we had nothing in common, and we fell madly in love.

Joan,

I'm so happy for you. Let us know how this progresses!

Hey Ladies Hows it going? Just had to jump in, an yes eharmony, and yahoo dating stinks. I have been curious about dating another "Bandster".

Thought it would be cool dating someone who knew exactly what was going on. Anyone had this experience? Good / bad?

Woot Woot Wootsie!!! I'm so glad you're talking to someone! I hope you guys get to meet and that it's a good meeting. You will have to keep us updated!!

Kristi - oh girl I love your stories!! lol. I'm glad your second date went great. It sounds like there's some chemistry there for sure. I wonder when date three will be!!

JDru - I was in a complete dry spell for a good year and a half. I had gone out on a couple of dates but no one really worth seeing again. All you can do is put yourself out there and have some fun! Oh, and a little bit of faith never hurts. lol

Jack - I think dating a fellow bandster would be great, but I haven't done it personally. Congrats on your weight loss by the way!! You've done a great job!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
