Hi Sannah. It's Beth from December Sleevers. Just read this entire post. You are so strong. Am curious how your appt. goes? If she treats you the same way I think it's time to move on. There are too many great doctors out there to allow someone to treat you like that' date=' especially with all you have been through. Best of luck today. Hope u r feeling better. Soon this will be a bad memory and you will be feeling great!!! Keep us updated.[/quote']

You help pull me through!!!!

I spent almost my entire adult life fat, but I have always been confident and had good self esteem, a great job, strong relationships...but deep inside I was ashamed of my body and the fact that I could diet and lose weight but only so much before the plateaus shut me down and the gaining began again. In the summer of 2011 I was nearly 280 lbs at only 5 ft tall. A few pivotal experiences gave me the courage to seek weight loss surgery and when I finally took that step, it unfolded in the most positive way. I went thru a 12 week pre-op program then qualified for surgery which was a breeze for me, no complications, and I got some wind beneath my sails and began walking and exercising, and working the plan. I used to wear a 3X or 4X and now I look much more like my petite self from days gone by...and I squeezed into a 12 this week. Slow and steady with stalls along the way but I am committed to get and stay healthy. I am 10 months out and 100 lbs down and lovin my sleeve!!

My leak symptoms weren't typical. I had a low and dull back ache. I had one night of chattering jaw and shaking muscles in my back- I was super cold. My body would sweat, like enough sweat that my bedding was wet.

I looked so good when the surgeon saw me, she was convinced I didn't have a leak. She seemed to be in shock I had a leak with how well I looked.

The most important thing to take from this always listen to your body. You know it best and seek help accordingly. It's always better safe than sorry especially with these types of complications. Make sure you advocate for your self. Your gut is a strong indication of what you need to do.

I wish you the best and hope that you never walk down the same road as I.

Wow. I hope you are doing much better now. I'll keep you in my prayers! Take care.

Hello Katie,

Sounds your journey so far has been smooth!! I am so happy to hear!! Congratulations on the 100lbs lost!! That is most amazing!! A 12 that must feel fantastic!! :) Do you still use walking as your primary form of exercise? Does your sleeve tolerate most foods? Thank for you sharing your story. It's refreshing to hear your success!! :)

Best,

Sannah

Today has been hard. My heart is acting real strange. Last night I was having a racing heart and it felt real weird-irregular. I was real light headed. As the day has progressed my bp has dropped 108/70 and a pulse of 46. This is not a typo. My pulse is low. I feel strange. My vision is worse.

I called the dr and they said away from all heart medications. To drink a lot of Gatorade.

It feels scary. I feel light headed and weak.

I hope that you guys are having a good day!!!

Please call your PCP....

I called them right away . I was told to stay away from the heart meds Stop them all and immediately. Also to stay home and drink alot of Gatorade. I am at home resting and getting Gatorade in. But I feel miserable. I have never had heart problems until this leak, when my heart started collecting Fluid. It feels miserable.

I really wish they would be more helpful to you!

I guess at this point you know yourself better than anyone that is "working" with you. if things deteriorate go to the ER!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
