questions one month out

Recommended Posts

I am almost one month out (jan 3rd) and have lost 20 pounds. I am starting to eat more exp fruit....and my fav thing now is pickles! I am also drinking a lot of Water...mixed with things like cranberry juice and apple juice... I also exercise over and hour a day and I cannot get the scale to move at all! :(

Should I cut out the juice? Maybe move back to liquid diet?

My goal is to lose another 20 pounds next month but that doesnt look realistic since the weight loss has come to a complete STALL!

Should I throw away the scale?

It sounds like you and I have the same surgery date - I'm down 25, so you sound like you are right on target! Don't be frustrated, just stick to the plan and give your body some time to adjust. Don't forget, you had MAJOR surgery! Hang in there, I promise you'll look back at this post a year from now andd think "I was so worried about nothing".

Sounds good thanks! Now that my scars are healed and I feel somewhat normal I do have to say I miss those days where broth filled me up! I deff need someone to hide this stupid scale though. I cant tell you how many times a day I weigh myself. Its crazy.

Hey there! I was sleeved 12/5 and have only lost over 30 lbs post surgery... I just broke my 2nd stall this week by upping my calories, Protein and liquids... I walk most days... about 30 minutes...I think weighing more than twice a week can serve to be very discouraging when the numbers don't move... in my case, I went up 2 lbs before I went down...You'll lose... your body will adjust... and you'll lose again... take heart! You're doing fine!

Thanks so much! I can tell im losing inches, Im just so obsessed with this stupid scale. Im sure everyone thinks well what if this surgery doesnt work for me? Maybe I'm eating to much damn fruit! Lol at the end of the day I guess I should give myself more credit for losing 20 pounds in a month and getting my butt up and exercising every day. Its time to hide this scale.< /p>

I know how you feel - you're doing fine! My nutritionist said no juice, but all nutritionists have different opinions. I've had two stalls (sleeved 12-12-12) and one day the scale will move. I'm scale-focused too, but you have to look at your body and notice the changes. Celebrate the inches coming off!

my nutritionist said soda and juice were no-nos. I drink things with Splenda - iced tea, Crystal Light, and diet lemonade from Chick-Fil-A (love that stuff).

My nut said that diluted apple juice with no sugar added is better than anything with artificial sugar but she did tell me to dilute it heavily I do 1oz of apple juice in 5 oz of Water

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
