Non-supportive wives?

Recommended Posts

I read many, many threads about women who are sleeving and have to deal with jerk, non-supportive, insecure, namby-pamby, crybaby husbands.

I am just curious.......... any of you men have non-supportive wives?

I found and read the thread that our honorary guest, Laura, referred to. It is :http://www.verticals...9;t supportive

It is an excellent thread on the subject. After reading that thread I almost wished I had posed this question in the general area. The women gave such insightful answers. Hey guys, OK if we throw this open to the ladies?

That might have been the thread I started a while back. My wife was being a real beech about it in a very passive aggressive way. When I was work hard to get the pre-op weight down, she would actually sit down in front of me (away from our dining room) and eat. She had had RNY about 7 years ago and had put back on almost all of her weight. So I think that had a lot to do with it. Generally she's kinda supportive. She cooks more for our kids than anything, but I have no problem making my own food and I think that pisses her off to a degree. If she makes something that I can't or don't want, I just make my own. I haven't let it get to me, I've pretty much tuned her out. But now that I am 3 months out she seems to be getting on board more. In fact she's started working out and seeing a nutritionist, but that has more to do with her, not really me. So who knows......

I agree with what was said on the other thread...maybe she's feeling insecure & afraid what might happen when your looking & feeling good! I know many years ago when I lost over 100 lbs & my husband started losing too..I became insecure & jealous! I would try & sabotage his weight loss by making his fav meals, etc. It was my problem...not his! Now we are both on this journey again....me sleeved & he trying on his own...but I feel totally different this time & we support each other. Maybe if you assure her how much you love her & talk about all the things you two will soon be able to do TOGETHER....she will get on board. Good luck on your journey!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
