How soon after surgery did u receive f/u care? My sleeve was on 1/14 (last Monday) and repeat sx on 1/16 to correct hernia d/t bleeding....and no word still from my docs office even though I keep calling trying to get some sort of info. I was sent home with a drain also which has subsequently stopped having output and needs to come out? I'm getting really irate and feel that their lack of follow up is totally negligent! I may be hormonal and just crying out in pain so I need some input please....

I guess every doc is different but I had a 1 wk appt already set up prior to surgery. Now I have a 4 wk appt set. If you have worries, call them. Don't sit around and stew about it.

I woul definitely call and demand to speak to someone, dont let them put you on hold, and demand answers.remember they technically work for you,you pay them. And im sure they cant afford a bad reputation

I've called several times and today every 2 hours so far. This is bs and they will give me some answers. I mean this is just ridiculous . I swear whomever receives the calls are totally clueless!

I had a one week appt made before I left the hosp., then a two week and four week, six week, 3 mos. You really have a problem with your doctors office and should insist on getting in immediately.

I called the day I got home and set up my 1 week appt to get staples out. I don't do no answers well- so it wouldn't be good lol. I'm so sorry you are going through this!

My surgeon's office contacted me with my initial f/u appt. before my surgery. They then called me 24hrs after going home to check on me and then reminded me of my f/u date/time. His office is awesome and really take the time to discuss any issues/problems. I didn't have a drain, and i've seen that quite a few people have...I'm not familiar with what it's for and/or why only certain procedures get one...

No not everyone has a drain.

Is is possible for you to contact another baratric surgeon in Your area? Explain the situation, tell them you need to see a Dr now. If not go to an ER. The drain should probably be removed

Well they finally now called me back and have me a f/u appt for next Thursday. Honestly with all the run around I'm getting with the office i would have to not recommend this practice. You can't just cut someone open, remove an organ and not follow up that's just crazy. I mean if u are gonna wham bam thank u ma'am me at least buy me dinner first!! Anyways the assistant who called said the doctor relayed to her that it is ok to have my pcp remove this retched thing from me. Sigh..

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
