Okay so i haven't been having any trouble with BMs until today! After about 30 mins sitting on the porcelain god it was stuck and WAY too big. Had to leave work and urgent care wasn't open. Got some stool softeners and took one. It finally passed thank you Jesus but it hurt like all get out! Do i take the stool softeners everyday or just when needed?

Unfortunately, I know how this feels.

Any time I take meds (especially pain meds), am not getting enough Fiber, have lower Water intake or haven't had a BM in two days, I start taking stool softeners. Stool softeners are much safer than laxatives, and I have seen many people who have used them daily / long term. If it were me needing long term help, I would start by taking Fiber supplements.

Fortunately for me I haven't had this problem yet. But I think I would try to start with fiber supplements daily before going to laxatives regularly. I have seen several posts on here about people taking Miralax daily, some have even stated their Dr. told them to. You might want to ask your Dr. they can probably give you the best advice. Good Luck.

I've tried everything. OMG over 2.5 yrs and still problems. I found that if I will eat about a half a cup of Whole Wheat Shredded Wheat, once or twice a day.....things are easier, not perfect but much better. I just measure it out and snack on it dry.

Ooops, I just realized, it is probably WAY too early for you to have this. Keep in in mind though, for later.

I ended up in ER because of this problem. I have been taking stool softener a but guess my Water intake wasn't enough. Most embarrassing and painful experience in my life. Still "trying" to get it all cleared out. Heard Miralax is good to take????

Best place I've found to get chia (if you are willing to buy 9lbs at a time) is azchia.com. It's about $60 for 9lbs of chia delivered.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
