Recommended Posts

Hey all. Operation was at 730 am. I'm fine thank god! I feel pressure on my chest and upper stomach areas but my doctor said that's normal. Thank you everyone for the support. Tomorrow I will be getting an upper gi and I will be getting out Thursday! I'm so glad it's over

Glad to hear! Only one incision of mine hurts. Every time I fall asleep a nurse comes in or my iv pumps starts beeping like crazy. Lol! Awesome nursing staff here so can't complain. Are you staying 2 nights? I'm also slowly switching pain meds from morphine to liquid loratab...I think they make it taste bad so u won't want to take it. Haha! ;) your table is so clean! ;)

Do you feel pressure on your chest area?

A liitle bit below the chest off and on. The vision was from the anesthesia wearing off.

Feeling good! Just got released and headed home to my own bed. How did your leak test go? I'm surprised they didn't do that while u were still under anesthesia.

How are you feeling?

Feeling better today. First two days were pretty bad with nausea and pain. Couldn't keep meds down, but I can now. i came home today. Trying to sleep it off. I still have chest pain when I drink cold things, but feel like I'm turning the corner.

One thing I can say I have not has nausea as of yet. Pain yes. Pain like from incisions. The pain is till there. chest pains come and go but I guess is just the process. I'm home now and I feel like ideas doing so much better in the hospital. I was able to bring my Meds down by crushing them and drinking it with Water.< /p>

Hey girls. I think I'm over the gas pains but 2 of my incisions still hurt. They are just tender and since I have a cold it hurts to cough. They are bruised pretty good but the bruises aren't huge. I don't even want to get on the scale yet. Lol! Are y'all wearing a binder around your stomach? I think it helps. I'm just sip sip sippin on Water right now. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
