Hi Nana, glad to see another Granny. My doc does not actually require me to do the shakes before surgery, just kind of taste them. Strict low fat diet 2 weeks before surgery and Clear Liquids right before. I am kind of glad because didn't want to get burned out on them before I get started. I also found out the normal progression he does after surgery, each doc is different. In hospital and a couple of days after you go home is clear liquids, then he goes up to full and clear, for a week or so and then full and within about a month to the soft. I don't have the exact progression in front of me, I have not been but a friend who has same doc just went, so that helped a lot on planning what things to have on hand and I don't have to worry so much about the clear Protein because I can have the choc and vanilla etc. fairly quickly. Love following all the posts, I wish I had more time, sometimes I don't get on everyday. Busy weekend so won't be on much the next two days. Byeee for now.

Hiya

My date is March 26th in Glasgow, Scotland

I've got a slipped band but I did cheat it a lot so am scared of sabotaging the sleeve as well and mostly of dying and leaving my 3yr old daughter alone...Ultimately though I'm excited :)

I've got a 2wk low fat diet to stick to before the op and am worried about that as I struggle to behave for 24hrs....hehe

At the moment I'm trying to cut back as I got weighed recently and was heavier than I thought plus my joints are aching bad!

Be lovely to go through this journey with you all.

I'm pretty new here...hoping to have a March surgery date. I had my consultation with my surgeon Jan 16th, EGD Jan 24th, medical clearance Jan 29th...still have to do my psych and nutrition next week, and then everything will be submitted to insurance. I have a friend I work with who was approved less than two weeks after submitting to insurance. Hoping it's the same for me! I'm 5'7, 250 lbs, 30 yrs old.

Hi misscrys and welcome! I was told to expect two weeks or less for ins approval. I'm hoping less! All my stuff was submitted Thursday and I did my EGD today (it was a breeze!). I have to do labs and an xray as walk in. And have a EGD follow up/pre op visit also. There's not much left to do and I just wish I had my date! I'm 29 & this is going to be one heck of a way to bring in my 30s. Excited to see us all progress!!

My paperwork has been faxed to Anthem two times and they still don't have my stuff in the system. The wrong dept got a hold of my fax and didn't get it to the correct dept so now once they approve me, I want the next available date. I may go with the end of February if it is available.

No date for me yet. :( My paperwork was submited to BCBS Thursday afternoon. The surgeon's office encouraged me to call them Monday. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, I suppose. Since I'm hoping to start a new job having a date would be very helpful so I can let them know I'll need time off. On a brighter note, I had my EGD Friday and it was a breeze! The surgeon and his staff were EXCELLENT!!

I am scheduled for March 8, and can't wait! My wife wanted to go around the same time, but someone at her job is out getting bunion surgery, so she'll have to wait until the end of April for hers.

Like a lot of people here, I'm also hesitant about telling people about all of this. I've only told 2 people I work with: my boss (because there are days I need to leave work early for appointments), and a woman I work with who had the lap band surgery (my wife and I were originally considering lap band until we did more research and decided on the sleeve). I'm just not sure i can deal with people thinking I "took the easy way out", or any other negative things. My wife asks what I'm gonna say when people ask how I lost the weight, and I tell her I'll just say that I put less food in my mouth, which isn't a lie (just a half-truth).

I'm 6'1", and 274 lbs. I'd be thrilled to get down to 190, I'll reassess once I approach 200. I'm on medication for high blood pressure and GERD, have sleep apnea, and slightly high cholesterol and triglycerides. I hope to be able to get off my medications.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
