So sorry you're in so much pain. I was sleeved in NYC where I live & they keep you in the hospital 3 days. I know they must've told you to walk, walk, walk to elevate the gas pains, so as painful as it seems try to do that. Thank God I had no pain issues at all. Only 2nd day in hosp., all I did was puke the whole entire day! The morphine pump was making me so sick so they started to crush my meds in Water & that was much better. You will get better each day. Good luck to you!

In pre op. They couldn't find a vein. Besides that everythings good so far. Counting down.

They tried 3 times on me with no luck. Finally the CRNA had to start my IV cause the surgeon was waiting lol.

The aftermath of the surgery itself is painful. But the results of the surgery makes it worth it. I didn't realize I'd be in the amount of pain I was in either but I'm 10 days post op today and a whole lot better. There's still a little discomfort but I've had no complications thus far and I'm very excited I had the surgery. You'll do fine!!! And if your tolerance for pain is better than mine then you'll really come out on top ;-)

I was informed by my surgeon that the pain in the incisions are very similar to my gallbladder surgery. I never had any issues or pain with that so fingers crossed that this will be the same. I'm glad that you have some help and I'm hopeful that your recovery will be speedy and less painful

The gas they use has moved around a lot I spent all day yesterday burping and with tightness in my chest. I just woke up feeling like my stomach was doing flips so I took the cramping med and pain med and walked my hallway 10 times. My incisions burn and hurt when I stand. I'm thinking about getting an abdominal binder to prevent movement. As of right now I can't get up on my own. Ice gel packs have really helped with the swelling. That's a lot of random for now lol. Hopefully when I wake up again I will feel a bit better. I'm only getting about 3 hours of sleep at a time.

The usual about 2-3 off and on. My one incision hurts pretty bad still. They told me today its bc of the tool that goes in that site. I stopped taking my pain meds a few days ago. They weren't helping my incisions anyway. They told me I can take Tylenol so I'm gonna try that today. I do feel better everyday. I didn't expect it to be this bad but if it continues the way it does I should be a lot better in the next 3 days.

Ty for checking on me :)

Thanks for the update. Your posts serve as a clear reminder that the end result may be what dreams are made of, but the process to get there isn't "so pleasant". Are you awake long enough to type or be productive, or is the pain still winning?

I'm awake all day pretty much and sleep off and on at night. I can't do anything that requires bending over. It hurts too much. I can get up and down off the couch on my own now slowly. I tried to sleep in my bed last night but that didn't last very long. This abdominal binder has helped a lot. When I stand it puts pressure on my incisions. Mainly the one that hurts the most. It feels like a burning sensation. My doc told me today there's nothing I can do about it. It has to do with what that incision was used for and nerves.

I'm having trouble getting all my liquids in. Most stuff makes my stomach cramp for about 30 mins after I eat. I haven't been hungry at all since surgery.

I went into the hospital at 263.4 came out at 270 and today I'm 259.8.

Here's what some of my incisions look like today. These are the ones that hurt the most.

It's bad bruising. You don't want to over-do it, but don't baby yourself too much either. I haven't been sleeved yet, but have had lots of other surgeries and there is nothing you can do for the burning. Make sure to get up and move as much as possible even though it hurts. It'll hurt even worse if you're not moving and trying to use those muscles for a long time. I'm surprised you only stayed 1 night in the hospital! Good luck-you'll feel better before you know it!

Only one of them burn. If that one was ok I would feel so much better. I'm trying to walk more. Thanks :)

One week and two days have passed since your surgery. How are you holding up?

Are you able to do a little more each day? suffer any setback? How do the stitches feel?

I'm ok. Still not sleeping but the burning in the one incision has stopped. That turned into major soreness though but on the plus side the pain meds actually are working now. My surgeon prescribed me zanex to try to help me relax. Luckily I don't have stiches I was glued. Think of it as sterile superglue. It's pretty cool. I could shower immediately.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
