George Bush: Worst American president in history

Recommended Posts

Ok Everyone,

I hate to interupt your Bush bashing party, but I just had to reply to this one! Has anyone in this forum ever been the President of The United States of America? I don't believe so, and I highly doubt any one of us will ever be the President. The Presidency is the most difficult job in the entire WORLD! I can fully understand why some people are not happy with the war in Iraq, but I want to point out that we have a volunteer military and everyone knows when they join what they are getting themselves into. I, for one, have a nephew in Iraq who is happy to be there protecting us from having a major war on our own land. He also tells me that every soldier he knows there feels the same way!

Has everyone forgotten about 9/11 and how heartbreaking it was for this nation? I, for one, will never forget those images we all saw on TV with people jumping out of windows and the twin towers falling. It was horrible! It is a proven fact Hussein was providing financial support and other resources to countries training those terrorists, plus some were trained in Iraq!

So there were no weapons of mass destruction when we got there, they had several months to remove them prior to our arrival, because they knew we were coming, just not the exact date. Plus the fact is that they could be buried; Iraq is not a tiny country. They also fit into very small containers because they are so potent. Most believe they are in Syria now; another scary thought. Another fact is our leaders used the same intelligence the rest of the world also believed was true before we went to war. The UN would do nothing, even though Hussein had been denying inspectors into the country for years.

So, bottom line, he is doing what he feels in his heart is right to protect this country. Bottom line, no one here knows the intelligence he hears everyday. Bottom line, our soldiers don't share the opinions expressed in this thread so far.

As for the Dixie Chicks, their opinions and comments have cost them their careers! They had to cancel most of their tour in America because no one wants to go see them, a fact I hate because I like their music. Plus, Natalie Maines is from my home town.

Just some more food for thought here as well. Bill Clinton embarassed this country to the highest degree with his sexual escapade with Monica. What a great role model for the children of our nation!

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Be prepared to be FLAMED!!!!! We are not a popular group, us President Bush supporters.

And nobody has embarrassed this country more than BuSh has. Speak to people from Europe or almost any place else in the world.

I am far more embarassed of Clinton and Carter. Not embarrased by Bush at all. Bush acted on intelligence he thought to be credible (as did everyone at the time)

Wow, I come to this site to get support for my weight issues and get this crappy thread. I obviously don't support the views here, but is this the site for this? I guess you all will be more happy when we become a democrat controled socialist state. Good luck with all that!!

Wait... now WHY are you on the "Rants and Raves" forum??? Could you enlighten me?

If you don't want to rant and rave, then you can stay on the forums that aren't for ranting and raving.

And while you're at it, it would be awesome if you could be honest about your opinion instead of using some excuse like "this is supposed to be for weight loss support".

Why don't you tell everyone how great you think Bush is, since that's your real agenda?

It would also be awesome if you didn't refer to my thread as "crappy".

Rants and Raves is just that. A place to talk about non-weight loss issues, to "Gripe, complain, moan, fight, rant and rave.".

OU: Didn't you realize you were in a Rants and Raves section? For real support about your Lap Band, check out some of the regular Lap Band Support threads.

BTW, why must we settle for either an administration that puts us in a socialist state or one like we have now? Did the U.S. become a socialist state when we had a Democrat in the White House and a more evenly divided Congress?

As for Bill Clinton's actions with Monica Lewinsky. His actions didn't embarrass me. The actions that the Republican party took in an effort to oust him embarrassed me and the entire country - or should have. Do middle of the road Republicans not get that even today?

Guess that might answer the question about whether your everyday Republicans are upset or embarassed about the past 2 elections where high jinx ran rampant (and not just in Florida).

I totally get that my Republican neighbors don't like the platform of the Democratic party. I understand that they do like the Republican platform and agenda. But getting their man into office by ANY means, ethics aside, is downright frightening to me!

But you know, people have a hard time thinking for themselves sometimes, examining an issue, a cause, or a person independently.

True, and of course politians are good at feeding into our fears and concerns.

But I don't get the "I wouldn't vote for ___" because of the people supporting them/it/that. There is more then enough nastiness on both sides.

P.S. Carter was not a great President, but he is a good humanitarian. And he has contributed to the betterment of people all over the world. Do you know that he and his team have been enlisted to monitor elections in other countries? Too darned bad he wasn't asked to monitor the ones in the U.S.

We have not forgotten 911, but apparently Mr. BuSh has, or how else do you explain why he has 150,000 troops in the wrong country?

If BuSh had been president on December 7, 1941, he would have invaded China.

And nobody has embarrassed this country more than BuSh has. Speak to people from Europe or almost any place else in the world.

Much of the world couldn't begin to understand why such an issue was made here over Clinton getting a BJ.

As you say, they have very definite opinions about Bush.

Ahhh, political season in all its glory!! I can't wait until the election is over so our elected officials can get back to working on the issues and work on problem solving rather than finger pointing and mud slinging. That is, after all, what we pay them for.

I hope you know I know that.

I sincerely hope so, too. But I don't think that's the case. I think people are easily swayed by the opinions of others and of mud-slinging -- hence the proliferation of negative ads these days.

There are good and bad politicians on both sides of the aisle. Too often people vote down party lines without looking at the actual politicians involved. I was explaining name recognition to my 9YO daughter the other day when she asked why there were a ton of signs in the grass in front of the supermarket. When I told her some people vote for someone just because they recognize the name, even if they don't know what that person stands for, she announced that that was a stupid way to decide who to vote for. And it is. I'd rather people not vote than vote without understanding the issues.

Of course I knew that you knew. I think, ya know! :phanvan

I totally agree, there are good and bad on both sides, and so often it seems like it's the same-old with just the names and R/D affiliation that changes.

You have a smart kid!

Huh? I think this is the root of all elections, not just electing Republicans.

Juicy thread to say the least. I feel the anger hitting the keyboard as I type.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
