I'm going cross-country skiing this weekend and want to take a hearty Soup that wont be too hard on my stomach. I'm a little less concerned about calories for that day since I'll be burning a ton. Plus, I've been feeling a little low blood sugary lately, I don't want to pass out in the woods with nobody around! FYI, I'm 5 wks 2 days PO.

Thanks!

Your better option is to take chili! If you make the base with blended black Beans and 96% lean ground beef you have a super Protein packed meal that's low in calories.

I was going to say chili as well. Another would be a thick bean soup/stew. Yumm!

I couldn't handle chili at five weeks out. I would do a shredded chicken in broth, with a little rice, then mostly puree the whole lot. Or maybe a creamy, cheesy Soup with some shredded chicken.

Don't overdo! Be careful.

I make an easy chili for my family:

1pound ground turkey

I red bell pepper chopped

1 green bell pepper chopped

1onion chopped

I small can Tomato paste

1 can diced tomatoes

2 cans black Beans

1 can chicken stock

a handful of chili powder to taste

And garlic powder, salt, pepper..or if I'm feeling even more lazy I just use a packet of chili spices and disregard the directions on it!

Brown the turkey I'm a big pot

Dump the rest in and cook until peppers are tender :)

I always made chili with ground beef cause my husband loves it, but I didn't care for it. Yesterday I made it with turkey and it was really good! Who knew! LOL

I have a question I am 15 days out from surgery can I have cottage cheese. I am desperate only liquids for another week I don't know if I can do it

Honestly it depends on what your doctor allows. I was allowed sugar free popsicles and sugar free pudding, yogurt, added it mash potatoes and broth but every doctor is different.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
