Milk of Mag= terrible!

Recommended Posts

I went for a Drs appt yesterday and told him that I hadn't had a BM in three weeks. I am four and a half weeks out. He recommended milk of magnesia. Let me tell you this stuff is hell

On wheels! I haven't heard anyone else say anything like this though!? I was on the pot for ten hours and got so dehydrated I had to go I the ER.

I feel like I have been hit by a Mac truck. Can anyone relate?

MOM has worked wonders for me. I take it when I haven't had a bm in a week. I don't let it get that out of control as I know other problems it will start to cause. I also know that since surgery I drink one 20oz G2 a day and if I don't have it I don't feel right.

Wow, the thought of chugging MoM is nausiating even now.

I had complications on a flight about 2 weeks after surgery and the stewardess gave my hubby a packet of MOM to try to give me, I smelled it and all bets were off, or up, or all over the bathroom...since then I can't handle it.

I did a glycerin enema once, helped alot.

It tastes like butt! I unfortunately drink it once a week for a bowl movement. It leaves a residue on your tongue and... Eww.

I haven't had a BM but I'm 5 days post op however I am very dehydrated and my mouth is so dry it is annoying. Should I go to the ER for an IV and fluids??? I know I haven't had enough liquids but I have had so much nausea and I've slept so much. What do u think???

First make a real effort to drink Water, slow slips. You have to get used to it. It's essential for your health, recovery, and weight loss. If you just can't get or keep it down, call your doctor.

yes i agree milk of magnesium is awful.... I had a problem for 2 days straight and wanted to die but i finally had a bm on the third day( the first week was hell it gets easier by week 2)... My fanny was in severe pain from all the straining and pushing it was awful. My main incisiion was bruised badly and one of the other incisison bled from the Constipation catastrophe! I never want to experience anything like that again. So this week (2nd week) i took a dulcolax and the following day i had a bm and it went 10times better!!! I couldnt go when i took mom or Miralax i found stool softner works better at least for me!!! Best wishes :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
