pant suze not changing

Recommended Posts

Ok so I've never been one to take measurements, I'm now regretting not taking preop measurements. I've lost 40 lbs and still wearing the same pants!! I've seem some of you girls saying with 40lbs you dropped quite a few pant sizes, why aren't I? Don't take this the wrong way I'm not upset, or down or anything, I'm not looking for a pity party, or a pick me up, i just want to understand what's going on.

I wore the same size because the pants I was wearing were tight to begin with. They eventually became loose but I could still fit them. I'll bet if you go to the store and try on a smaller size then it will fit. Also, my tummy is the largest area on me so pants are much more loose in the rear and legs than in the tummy area.

A lot depends on who made your pants :) I wear Not Your Daughters Jeans, so I don't fly through the sizes as fast as some do. It also depends on where you started. The heavier you were the slower you see that progressing size change. And then where you lose. I have lost pretty much my top half and my tummy and bumm are next to go...so I haven't flown through the sizes so much either.

I've lost almost 20 (13 days post op) and I can tell I've lost weight everywhere but in the waist area. Jeans are looser in the legs and my tops are more roomy but my waist feels the same. Now, 20 pounds isn't that much where I'd see a huge difference anyway though...I think 40lbs (God willing! I'm still scared I'll be the only VST failure) is where I'll really start seeing a difference.

Measuring is a good idea....I'm going to do that tonight.

i had my surgery on dec8 and have been on a 3 week stall...:(..the scale moves up n down ....:(...my heaviest wt was 251 and day before surgery 228....today 209......BUT ..all my clothes are fallin off me .......from 3x tops to xl tops ...and tight22's to tight16's.....everybodys body is built differently ....but yeah, i stay bummed out on a daily basis cuz the scale is not moving , but my clothing sizes are ! I have been measuring myself too......but find it inaccurate as to exactly where i put the measuring tape the previous time .....a lil higher or lower on the hip makes a big differene in accuracy...i thought about putting a dot on my hip with a black permanent marker so i can be precise !!! :)

I've lost 40 pounds and went down one size. I have a big butt so my jean size is bigger than most my weight. You may be losing in other places.

I too struggle with this!!! I've lost about 42 pounds since Oct. 30th (my surgery date). I thought by now I'd be in at least 16's but not yet... I can't get them up over my hips. But my 18's are baggy and not flattering at all.

it seems as if I am losing most of my inches in the upper body area and lower but hips/butt/stomach are preventing that next step down in jean size... I SOOOO want to say I can move on and out of the 18's.

I learned a long time ago that every 10lbs. you lose should be a size. So what gives?

Well plus sizes are made much different. For some reason people can expand an shrink a lot more in plus sizes vs regular sizes. It took me 50lbs o go from 18plus size to a regular 18. Once you leave plus sizes the sizes drop faster an rule of thumb is the smaller size you are the less it takes you to move down a size.

I lost 50 lbs before I (or anyone else) even noticed a difference in how my clothes fit. It wasn't until probably -80 or 90 that I dropped a full size. I've now lost 145 and gone from a 28/30 to a 20/22. It depends on where you carry your weight, mine is all in my "apron" which is shrinking much slower than everything else. I've definitely lost top down so my face and boobs show it first. If you are losing, you are losing, don't worry about your pant size. Plus, as I've started shopping in more brands I notice how much they vary. I have everything from an 18 to a 24 in my closet and they all fit similarly. Be thankful you don't have to start spending money on new clothes yet (even tho I'm sure you want to)!

How and where we lose weight is almost entirely determined by genetics. Your one of those people who's midsection is probably going to be the last to go. Thats just how it goes, sorry to say. Keep going and you will get there eventually.

What gives is that the real world isn't ruled by arbitrary guides like that. Your average 300 pound lady isn't wearing a size 30, and your average 150 woman isnt wearing a size 15. Thats just a guide to MAYBE give someone a GENERAL idea of what might happen.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
