Uh Oh....I'm suddenly STARVING

Recommended Posts

Ok, now I am worried. Woke up this morning and had my normal Protein shake (175 calories 28g protein) and less than 2 hours later I was ravenous!! I haven't felt hunger like that in ages -- even way before my surgery.

What is the deal? I'm still on liquids and mushy. I have not had any solid food. I've read from other sleevers here that heartburn can mimic hunger but I'd swear it was hunger and not heartburn. I'm on Prilosec but I had not taken it yet this morning so I just took one. I just don't think I should be this hungry suddenly. Anybody else what to chime in and share your experience?

Thanks!

Dana

I got on here to ask the same question... 10 days out and I think I have hunger... no heartburn, over 100 oz of fluids yesterday and I am hungry.... I even moved to mushies/softs early and am having a little small curd cottage cheese.

Is something wrong with me? and no, not my time of the month.

Your very early and will have periodic sensations of hunger at first. They decline a lot for most of us after several weeks.

I'm just curious how you all know its not heartburn since the rest of us can no longer tell the difference after surgery?

Here's another question....if you feel hungry, so what? Hunger can't kill you. It goes away in some people after surgery but not everyone. It certainly had a hold of me during the soft food/mushie stage. But as soon as I started eating real food, especially dense Protein, it was like the wild beast was tamed.

Yeah heartburn or the acid reflux is much different than before surgery. The only way I knew was because I started taking prevacid and the hunger feeling went away. Also I knew I couldnt be hungry so quickly after a meal considering it took less time to get the hungry feeling than it did to consume the meal

You're right...hunger can't kill me. It's probably heartburn like everyone says.

Ok, so I know from all my previous diets that if you feel hungry, drink Water. But now, I don't feel hunger UNTIL I drink water. I'll be fine, drink a sip of water and suddenly get that hunger feeling, just for a minute or two then it passes...until I take another sip of water. I know it's not hunger but thats the only way to describe the feeling. What's up with that?

I was prescribed omeprazole capsules and I take one every day with a meal. I am only two weeks out and have been taking it for a week and a half now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
