I think everyone's second guessed going through with surgery. It's pretty normal when you consider that we're voluntarily removing 85% of our stomach. I'd say that anyone who doesn't give it a second, or third, or more thought probably hasn't thought about it enough.

This is me I have lost 15 pounds since I think I am just being lazy and just don't want to eat right or exercise. When I do eat right and work out I do lose the weight I think I can do it on my own....I feel like I am just wasting my doctors time! :-(

I have second guessed over and over. I am 5'4 and 239. My goal is 135 so I do have 100 to loose but many friends and family have said its too much. I see the doc on the 8th and have a list of Q's for him - including about too much. Talk to your doc-

You're beautiful. I'm sure if you are honest with your doc and yourself it will be ok

I loose when I eat right and workout - I just don't ever keep it up kids, family, dogs, volunteer work and well.....,LIFE! Guess I'm lazy too, or maybe neglected myself off & on so much I need to learn to commit to myself and make "me & my health" a priority.

I wish you all the luck and peace there is. It's nice to hear honesty.

If you think you can do it on your own maybe you should have another go on your own? I know for me, after decades of dieting I knew I couldn't do it on my own. I'd lost all optimism in weight loss.

I could lose wait on my own...problem was I could never keep it off. Big time yo yo dieter through the years. This is a tool which I pray will help me keep it off when I reach goal. I tried to over eat a couple of times during the holidays, and my new stomach makes me stop:). Best thing I've ever done for myself, but with that being said you must believe in the sleeve before you get it done.

It's natural to be a lite hesitant. There was a time when I thought to myself wtf am I doing to my self. In the end I knew it was something that I needed to do for myself. The one thing people say about having this surgery is they wish they could have done I sooner or while they were younger. Keep that in mind I wish I could have done this at 25 years old. Because your so young and not as heavy as it of people, you are the perfect candidate. Do you really want to wait 10 more years and another 100 pounds to realize you need help.

It is really a big decision and it is also a personal decision. Ultimately you have to do what you feel is best for you. Best of luck to you.

I would seriously give it a go without surgery first. As high as my BMI was, I still regret putting my family through the complications. I just got home after a month in the hospital for a tiny leak that was caught early. I went 3-4 weeks with NOTHING. Not even ice chips. Just TPN. I had a drain and it's healing is causing me some super pain, lung collapsed, got MRSA, had a tube shoved up my nostril down into my stomach that has damaged my voice, I've lost so much strength I can't even carry my chihuahua without getting dizzy.

If 60 lbs is worth the near death experience, go ahead. But I would strongly reconsider. At least try on your own :/

I have no problem losing weight.. Problem is I have no problem gaining it either! My dr told me I was slowing killing myself by yo- yo dieting from 190lbs to 104 over and over.. I'm done with that! I spent to many years hating myself when I'm obese.

I AM DONE DONE DONE!

I had the sleeve. I was my surgeon's first sleeve leak. I knew the risks going in and despite reading how bad it was I was NOT ready for that kind of Hell.

This is me. I've lost and gained so many times. After regaining (not all, but most) of my last diet's weight, I just had no hope. No desire to even attempt dieting. This is my last resort after 15 years of yo-yo dieting.

I would never have considered surgery before realizing it WAS my last hope. If you're not there, that's ok! I wouldn't even consider having 85% of my stomach surgically removed if I had any hope at all of keeping it off on my own...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
