I am 6 months out and I think that I messed up my sleeve:(

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone! I have a question: Well I am 6 mos out and now noticing that I am able to eat more and feel full a lot less. This change is driving me crazy!!! I have not gain any weight but I am worried that I might. Last week I was doing some strength exercise and lifting furniture and I felt a pain in my belly on the left side a few inches from my belly button and sometimes right above my belly button. I am up set thinking maybe I have damage my sleeve I miss my feeling of feeling full after 2 to 3 bites. Is it normal for my sleeve to grow maybe and how do I manage this problem? Also does any one know the website that has that 7 day diet test to see if your sleeve is still working? I will visit the ER tomorrow morning and I will keep you’ll updated.

I'm 8 months out and sometimes have that same thought about being not as full. I seem to eat way more often and a little more than a 2 to 3 bites. More like 7 to 8 bites or so. But I do catch myself eating faster and drinking while eating also. I think as well that I need to eat more satisfying Protein and less carbs. As far as the pain you're having not sure about that. Once healed though and your 6 months out it should be very durable like the rest of your body. But have it checked out to put your mind at ease. keep us posted and good luck to you.

I was under the impression that eating a little more after a while is normal. I thought I read somewhere that you should be limiting your portions to 4 oz no matter where you are in your journey, otherwise you may stretch your sleeve. I mean, really, how much are you eating at a time? Also, do you feel hungry?

I would think you are probably fine, but get it checked for peace of mind. And perhaps you should up your calories to more than 800 a day. Not more than 4-6 oz in a sitting, but more calories a day could be why you are hungry.

I have to eat between 1400-2000 calories a day. Yeah I'm eating all day long.... but I worked my butt off to lose the weight, now I gotta work on keeping it up a bit (due to complications as my signature shows, I've not be a "normal" sleever and lost too much this last go around due to complications, so now I'm working at keeping my weight at 135, which I am below this week).

I know at one point in my journey, 800 calories wasn't doing it for me. Perhaps you are just at that stage, but I hope to read you are fine and all is good after getting it checked.

Best of luck, always.

Katrina, I just found this thread. Are you doing better?

For me my capacity to eat has definitely increased. One of the most effective tricks I know for making myself feel full is to add some roughage to my diet. So instead of eating just a piece of lunch meat, I'll roll it up in a lettuce leaf. Somehow that lettuce makes it feel like so much more without really adding any calories. Works with a piece of cheese too. And bacon.

Hi! Yes I am doing well I had an appendix infection that was causing my pain. I didn't know that over time sleeves will expand a little. I will try that trick with the lettuce soon. I have notice white meat feel me up fast and holds me longer. It's a little rough going down but it's works. Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
