Who I am...who am I

Recommended Posts

34 mother of three boys. My husband was sleeved 10-15-2012 and mine was 12-17-2012. We are doing this together and he is my biggest support system! I think I'm pushing harder since he has already lost 85 pounds. I'm stalled for the last 3 days and its frustrating but I know it happens and I'm trying to remember to look for the long term. Still have some pain/discomfort at one of my incision sites, but wouldn't trade it for not having surgery. Good luck to everyone!

Welcome! How cool toget sleeved with your husband!!

Piece of advice? You wouldn't know that you were "stalled" if you weren't weighing daily. (Hug)

I know right! I keep telling my self that! I am stalled for week 3 and actually up 2 lbs but hubby says he can see it coming off in inches.

I am getting sleeved with my wife. What did you do to support each other? Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks! Keep pushing!

We talk a lot about how things feel, foods to try and support each other through positive pushing...it's been really great to haw each other for support

You're still very early out so don't be so concerned with the scale quite yet. Our bodies fluctuate right after surgery. Most people gain weight then drop then hit a plateau. I lost a lot my first week post op (20lbs) then nothing for a several weeks. Don't fret you're body needs time to catch up to what's going on. I think it's awesome your doing this with your husband! Sending you both lots of luck!

My hubby & I are going to be doing the surgery a few weeks apart if all goes well it will be sometime in March. I'm hoping we have good success also. He is going first & I've worried that he would lose so much so fast that it would discourage me if I lost alot slower.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
