Hello Patienceshy..."How many doctors do you have to see and for what?" I am two months into my Medical Weight Management (MWM), my insurance requires six months of physician supervised weight management or tracking of weight loss attempts. My surgeon's program includes the MWM in addition to the other diagnostic test, such as, abdominal US, UGI, sleep study, and chest x-ray. The test and follow up visits are in preparation for the surgery to ensure there are no complications and my body is ready, i.e., sleep study, if I'm under during surgery and stop breathing that could be problem.

My program requires a psych eval and a visit with a cardiologist along with lab test before my surgery. These are all small steps to prepare you for your new life.

Good luck!!! :D

Hello letty1 after carefully looking through my paperwork I've done the bloodwork, abdominal sonogram, bilateral sonogram, pulmonology, chest x ray, a arterial gas test, uummm And then I have the psych I have to see Jan 3 also on Jan 2 I have to go to a group appointment...I know I have to see a nutritionist soon, sleep study, endoscopy and I'm really not sure what else...but in all I've seen like 7 doctors for the things I have had done already..I'm just wondering how much longer? or how many more appointments to go?

I'm just now starting the process and I had to have 6 months of failed dieting in the last year and a psych evaluation. After all of that goes to the hospital i should only have one appointment with the surgeon to go over everything and get my date hopefully!

Hello lacifer90 that's great I didn't know its that quick. What state are you in? By the way I'm in new York but I think its like six months as well meaning with all the appointments is what adds up to 6months..I started in august did the most of my appointments but had a family situation so I had to reschedule my other appointments till now..if not I think I would have been had the surgery or just about to get it.

I'm in Tennessee. I wish i had started the process sooner. There was over a month wait at the psychologist but now it's right around the corner. I'm just glad to have found a doctor that is going to help me get the surgery done.

Ok so you didn't have to go through all the diagnostic testing? If so I guess out their they do it differently..either way good luck and I hope you get a date soon. I am anxious for a date now.

My doctor did xrays ekg and blood work my first appointment i had with her. I've noticed a lot of people have had to jump thru a lot of hoops and see a lot of different specialists. I guess I just lucked up with my insurance.

I had a complete blood panel, endoscopy, six month supervised diet program and psychiatric evaluation. The week before surgery, I had more blood work, a doppler exam of my legs and a chest X-ray. A week post-op, I had more blood work and another doppler. They were checking for blood clots. If you still have your gallbladder, they may also check it pre and post op.

Good luck! Believe it or not, the time flies.

Everything's going great! I keep saying that I'm the poster child for the sleeve. I had no complications, I was getting my fluids and Proteins in within the second week and even though I'm not losing as fast as others, it's been steady. And so far, no Hair loss. This is the best gift I've ever given myself.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
