I'm not having a issue with bleeding but I've had 2 busted stitches under the skin and it hurts so bad on my right side it doubles me over I've took Tylenol none stop I finally took ibprofen today cause Tylenol doesn't last long enough! Do they know why your incision continues to bleed?

Thursday the surgeon put stuff on it to stop it. It has bleed like crazy ever since. I tried calling the doctors office 3 times on Friday and they have all new people who couldn't transfer me to the right people. I will call again Monday if it is still bleeding.

I don't think the bleeding is "typical," so I definitely think your instinct to keep having it looked at is right. As for your statement, "CAlled three times on Friday and they have all new people..." What kind of surgical center is it? Is it doctor-owned or part of a hospital? I have had similar problems because the Centura system fired the main doctor at it's Bariatric Center (due to his SALARY) and then all his old staff left to pursue other jobs (because they were pissed)...So now I feel like going to the Bariatric Center is a joke, but at the same time, I am not having anything like bleeding. Please keep us posted on what is up. I mean, if the outside incisions are bleeding, that may not be something too alarming, but what about the incisions underneath?

They were short staffed and it looks like they hired 2 new receptionist. The usual receptionist wasn't there and the nurse never called me back. It is the bariatric center for the hospital.

Hi folks, I was sleeved on Dec. 19th and have been looking for a peer group to talk to, Is my date close enough to join yours? I have lost 25 lbs post surgery so far, I actually had a week stall due to TOM and probably the 3rd week stall that I was warned about by my friend who is two years out from surgery. My program at my Kaiser is pretty strict even different than other Kaiser's which seems strange to me. I had Clear Liquids until out of hospital, then full liquids for two weeks (cream Soups, yogurt, pudding etc.) then dietician put me on pureed, I can have 1/4 cup of pureed Protein food 3 times a day no Snacks. supposed to get the protein in first then veg or fruit if I have room but I never have room. pretty much I have been having tuna, egg salad and the like but I also have things like chicken salad or some soft stew meat and chew the dickens out of it. I am supposed to go on soft foods on the 18th but I don't think it will be much different than what I am having when I chew a lot. we are also not allowed Protein Shakes ever so I am going to look into the clear Protein Drinks to try and up my protein. I had a hiatal hernia fix as well when I had my sleeve so I do feel it if I take too big a sip or more than a baby spoon size bite. walking most everyday as well. the liquids are still not close to 64 oz. a day but the dietician said that could take a while. The other thing that is different with my program is that I am not supposed to have foods like yogurt and Soup anymore because they say they are slider foods and don't keep me full long enough.

I find it interesting how different the programs are, everyone is having great progress here! all the best, Terry

So, we are all almost done with week 3 (since week 4 is on Monday). Unlike many of you, I have been allowed to eat soft and pureed food for a while. A lot of people talk about not getting enough Protein and/or Water, but my problem is getting the 5 mini-meals/snacks. Fortunately, I can get my protein requirement by drinking an Isopure every day, but I don't think that is what my NUT is going to want. I just find it almost impossible to eat on time while parenting my kids. On Tuesday, I was doing the stuff I need to do to get the first two out the door. (They walk to school.) Then I made a scrambled egg and took it with me in the car because I had to get my daughter to preschool. I didn't really eat the whole egg until after I delivered her. By that time, another 45 minutes had elapsed and the egg was cold. I ate it anyway. Today, we had a birthday party. Because we were hosting the birthday party, I didn't have time to drink water. By the time I drank water and waited to eat lunch, lunch was close to 2PM. By 2PM, I am supposed to have a protein "snack." I just can't follow the plan given to me pre-surgery, because I am always taking care of other people.

I think this situation may apply to people who return to work, too...depending on their jobs. Obviously, some work is flexible and if you need to eat/drink, you will have time. But, I can imagine that other jobs (e.g. nurses, retail workers, etc.) may present the same problem that I am having as a SAHM.

I'm heading back to college and classes start this week. (Monday and Wednesdays I go from 830-4 with no break!). So I'm already thinking about things I can make and shove in a lunch pail.

One thing I recently bought was the laughing cow mini babybel light cheese. it has 50 calories and 6 grams of protein with 0 carbs for an itty bitty piece! perfect for our tiny stomachs. I know cheese can bind you up, but if you could throw in a few pieces in a little insulated lunch box, these might be something to help you through the day.

I also bought a few packs of those little tuna to go things, and you just don't eat the crackers. it's small and full of protein. I think I'm going to be relying on Protein Shakes for a while because I'm still not getting in all my protein and water. NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY! especially when you have to wait 30 mins before and after eating to drink again and then in a few hours you have to eat again so you have to stop drinking. IT'S AN ENDLESS CYCLE haha.

I hope you can work a schedule out for you. Maybe you'll have to prep stuff the night before you start your day

You'll drive yourself crazy if you pay attention to those things. Focus on getting down to size that's comfortable and healthy for you. That's all that really matters.

Thank you. : )

It is still an achievement. I am struggling to just get to 12lbs off post surgery and I wasn't low BMI like you.

As long as we are going down on the scale, we are heading in the right direction...

I went to a different support group today, and wow, very different. The doctor who ran it had interesting things to say, but so much was different from my doctor's plan, and I'm actually very glad I am with my doctor's plan. He said to wait 15 minutes before drinking after eating, and I have been told 60 minutes. He said you don't need the Vitamins after a year, and the vitamins he had in his slide show were much less than what I'm being asked to take. Less Calcium, no B1 or B12 sublingual, just a B complex, and much less D, if I am remembering correctly. Also, he said Pasta, rice and popcorn were OK after you were several months out, which is also very different. It is all interesting information, and I enjoy going to the support groups, and chatting with all of you.

I saw my dr and nut at 3 weeks. I told the nut I was hungry all the time and she said I could start a regular diet. She thought the puree was not satisfying my hunger. She said I am healed and can have whatever I want, including breads, Pasta, and rice. I told my dr I was having light headedness and felt sleepy, esp when driving on the freeway. She told me to try going back on coffee with caffeine. So, both suggestions, to resolve hunger and the head symptoms, have made a huge difference. Granted, it takes me an hour to drink a cup of coffee and 2 bites of chicken and I am stuffed but, I still drink pro. shakes and feel the reg. food is more of a supplement because I eat so little. I was wondering if anyone else is on a regular diet yet and how it is going.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
