3 days Post-Op. Still sore!

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Got home yesterday and still trying to adjust to all the changes. Really appreciate everyone one here and wish you all luck! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Merry Christmas!

I had mine done on Monday the 17th, so I am 6 days post-op. I can only say that yesterday (day 5) was my turning point- the pain susbsided substantially. It has been made much easier to deal with by taking a little percoset from time to time. Seriously, not being a pill-popper, I had no idea the magic of pain meds! LOL Good luck, sounds like you're doing fantastic!

It gets easier and easier. I actualy remember the 3rd day being the hardest and then after that things went upwards and onwards. Just keep trying to move around. Sometimes that pain is gas and you just have to move around even though that is the last thing you want to do. Congrats on the next chapter of your life!!!

Agree with all above! Day 3 is the worst! Keep doing deep breathing - brace your stomach with a pillow in case you cough. That was a big help for me. Also - if you can do any walking then DO IT! That really helped me. Keep sipping and don't worry about calories or Protein for a day or so - wait until you feel a little better in a day or two. I was also sleeved on the 17th and feel so much better today and each day. One note - don't over do the exercise like I did yesterday. I almost had a break down at the mall - it was too much on too few calories and not enough pain medication. Lesson learned!

Each does get a little better. Walking, pain meds, deep breathing and sipping. I am a very impatient person and I think I expected to bounce right back after surgery. I've learned it takes time-but it will get better!

I'm day 6. Think I tried to do to much yesterday. Feeling a little more sore today. I would recommend wearing your binder if they gave you one while you sleep. That helped me so much. Good Luck!!

You are all so encouraging. I also had my surgery on Thursday the 20th and I was released from the hospital today. I'm in so much pain. Hopefully it will only be another day or two of feeling like this. I am also feeling nauseous everyone I sip Water. Anyone else have that problem?

I was VERY nauseated after the surgery! I'm 3 days post-op and I feel better. It will get better! Keeping trying to eat and sip on flavored H2O and Powerade. Keep your chin up! : )

I totally agree the third day was probably the worst for me But you have to realize you just had major surgery you cannot think that you're going to feel fine in three days. I was in the hospital for six days I had a few little complications but I was in severe pain for at least three of those. The surgery is very complicated in the respect of taking your stomach out you're not going to feel better in three days. Do all the resting you can do drink your fluids and try to just relax take your pain medication. In a week or so you feeling so much better and you will be smiling good luck!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
