2 Weeks Of Liquid How Did U Survive?

Recommended Posts

I am my boyfriend's support person through all of this. He started the Optifast liquid diet two weeks ago. Two more weeks to go. He hasn't had any headaches, but complains of being depressed. I keep telling him that his body is in mourning from the food. Not to mention all the things he had to give up, including smoking and BEER! He's lost 19 pounds so far. I know after the banding on November 20th, he will be a healthier person and a much happier one!!

You have to do with the goal in mind or you will go nuts. You have to think long term it will be worth it. It isn't easy but I does pay off!

Good luck!

And stay away from people eating your favorite foods, trust me!

FullofGrace, Did anyone ever say what the lady actually died from? Was it during surgery and was she healthy or not? It amazes me that we don't hear of many deaths. Makes me wonder if we're getting the truth about the surgery stats or not.

I understand it was a surgical error to the intestine...it is very important from what I understand to find a surgeon who has a lot of experience not just done a few..the surgeon in this case had not done a lot. I should remind everyone that when I did my study the mortality rate on this surgery is less than hip replacement, hernia, gall bladder so it is relatively safe.

My Dear Bullwinkle... what a great support you've been to me. Thank you so much for your kind words and your prayers. I am doing well....still a considerable amount of pain four days post op and I'm hoping for a turn around soon...getting tired of feeling this way...no food certainly doesn't help. Four more days of liquid...UGH!

I was on the Optifast diet for two weeks, and let me tell you, i cheated a couple of times, somehow over that period i lost 9 kilos. I put on 2 kilos again after the first week, lost 2 kilos just after the half mark of the first week. When i got weighed at the hospital on the day of my surgery, i lost 7 kilos! i was like what on earth, oh well.. yayyyyy!

Im struggling to just eat liquid. its hard. Im a very picky eater. Does anyone have any delicious recipies for Soups? im not a very Soup sort of girl, but i guess i have to make the Soup like me instead. Any tips?

Just eat strawberries, you're allowed them are you not? I was and i found eating strawberries curved my hunger, and eventually my tummy made itself smaller over the two weeks and i didn't need to eat as much. And when you get hungry just drink lots of Water then eat something healthy and small, if youre still hungry, go do something that requires your concentration, or, as i sometimes did, went to bed till it passed.

Hi there, I am on day 2 of my Optifast liquid diet and I have to say the hungry feeling has disappeared. I had a headache yesterday but today I am feeling a lot better. The only hard thing to deal with is walking by the fridge. I've been cooking meals for my family and watching them eat and enjoy the food but I haven't really been upset about not eating. I thought it was going to be much harder to do this, but I have kept to my decision. I just remind myself that I will be able to eat these foods again in the future, just not right now. I don't think i'm missing out that much. Even if I would rather just eat.

When I am hungry, I cook some asparagus is chicken broth. I am a chef, so I use the low sodium chicken broth. I will sautee some lemongrass, onions, and mushooms in a pan with barely any oil. Then I just add it to the chicken stock with a pinch of salt and pepper. I also add in a dash or two of ricewine vinegar to get the asian feel on. This has helped me a lot. On my diet I'm only allowed 2 C of certain veggies a day. Using the vinegar changes the taste of the stock so it isn't the same thing over and over again. It hasn't been easy so far, and there are literally 2 weeks to go still but somehow, I know I can do this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
