Sleeved Dec 13th. Lost 22 pounds since then. Can that be right?

Recommended Posts

I'm very happy and blessed to have this done and behind me. I researched this for 2 years. Now I'm 5 days out and can't believe how fast the weight has melted off. Wed 12-12-12 I was 342. Last night I was 318. That is 24 pounds in a matter of days... Crazy and a little scarry. Anyone else have that happen?

Only negatives so far is that I have a serious cold that has made me cough alot which has been painful. Also, I had my first Protein yesterday and came home and had the runs. But I drank a concnetrated protein shot since we had a long drive home and that may have caused it.

I'm really tired and trying to figure out how in the world I'm going to eat 60 grams of Prot and drink 8 cups of Water a day? I'm full the moment I drink water. Anyone?

Thanks,

My first week I lost 22 lbs. My second week. I lost 16 lbs. I am now in my 3rd week & everything came to a grinding halt. So, yes, normal. As far as liquids (water & Protein shakes), I found that I had to have a bottle of one or the other in my hand constantly sipping to get it all in.

yes, it's very right. when i was first sleeved I lost 25 lbs in the first 1 1/2 weeks, and 53lbs in 7weeks. Then 150 lbs in the first year. So yes, this is very possible and very right. Don't worry, the body will level itself out. . mine has and i'm maintaining at the weight the doctor had wanted me at. Good luck!

We're you on a liquid before surgery? I was 284 when I started and yesterday at my week appointment I was 263. But that was about 3 weeks one one week post surgery.

Your 64 ounces includes the protein. Us the highest Protein powder that you can find. I use unjury. 21 grams per serving.

I was only on liquids the day before surgery. I think part of the rapid weight loss has to do with 5 or 10 pounds I gained in the month leading up to surgery.

Is your stomach ok with the shakes now?

Yes. I have no problem with taste or nausea with the shakes. It is just taking in the volume that I can't manage. The GNC Amp shake mixes up pretty well so you don't get that chalky texture. You get a few lumps but not many. So I can drink them pretty well.

You can try unflavored Protein in your food, it helps to get it in without having to set aside room in your tummy for shakes

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
