Seriously? NO... NO... and NO!!!! You just had MAJOR surgery on your stomach. If a drink on your 21st birthday was important then you should have moved your surgery date out. Sorry to sound harsh but this is the second post in a week where someone felt that having a drink 1 was important.

Absolutely positively a terrible idea that you would truly regret. Better ask and find out than take the action and live the consequences.

Imagine the pain when you clean a wound with alcohol, then imagine that pain going down the entire length of your freshly wounded tummy... If you still want a drink after that, it's your decision.

Wow, definitely a bad idea...you would get so sick. There is soo much sugar in alchohol.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. You have plenty of life time to have those "legal" drinks of alcohol. Just wait 3 months and see how you feel. It is not worth it! ;)

I think this pretty much exact same question gets asked and answered at least once a week. OP, you can do a search at the top of the forums for all types of things. Many questions have been asked dozens and dozens of times. I don't mean to sound rude or like your question isn't special to you, but some days the same question gets asked multiple times and every week the same questions get asked and answered over and over. Yea, I know ...I can just skip over them, but it IS helpful to know (if you don't already) that the forums are searchable.

I don't want to sound like an ass- but I'm going to. Or everyone who is so concerned with consuming alcohol so soon after surgery I want you to take a good hard look and the label on your liquid Lortab. It's 14 proof. Not going to say that anyone should go out drinking but please spare me the dramatics of pouring alcohol on an open wound.

I'm with everyone above; it would be a really bad idea. Your surgeon told you no alcohol for a reason - he wasn't doing it just to deprive you, he was doing it because his years of medical expertise has taught him that patients should not do it until a certain time frame has elapsed. Unless you are a doctor yourself in this specialty, I would take your surgeon's word on this one and not drink.. :) Happy 21st though!

I would avoid so early out. Let your body heal & get to grips with your new stomach before you test it with alcohol xx

Happy birthday x

If I'm not mistaken, I believe lortab has 7% alcohol. However, the 500mg acetaminophen is super harsh on your liver as it is. Combining that with the 7% alcohol content is really putting a lot of pressure on your liver. Given that a lot of people are drink lortab multiple times a day, you don't want to add anything extra that would stress your liver out even more

Happy Birthday!! :)

Personally, I think you should probably wait a bit longer, but I also don't think a few sips will hurt you. I had a glass of wine at about two and a half weeks out. Most people would have screamed at me if they knew. I'm not a drinker by any means (have only had alcohol one other time since being sleeved), but it was a special occasion and I wanted to have a little bit. It didn't hurt me. But, be aware that it can't be good to have alcohol this early out, so if you do please please please limit it to a very small quantity. Whatever you decide, enjoy your birthday!

I'm not saying to add it!! Wow. My point was that probably everyone post op has already consumed alcohol. That's it. Why on gods green earth would you drink with narcotics? What is wrong with you people?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
