  • Seriously? NO... NO... and NO!!!! You just had MAJOR surgery on your stomach. If a drink on your 21st birthday was important then you should have moved your surgery date out. Sorry to sound harsh

Awwww 21 I remember those days, but it's not worth it sweetie u can do it when u turn 25!!! I'm one week and I was a heavy drinker and I have a full bar at home!!! As much as I want one I'm not going and I haven't even thought about it!!! Take ur time boo!!

To those of you in this topic who said you are turning 21, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! These are going to be some of the best years of your lives, enjoy them to the fullest.

One evening when I was about a week post- op my partner opened a bottle of wine and after a taste told me how good it was. Without thinking I took a sip and it was seriously painful. From my experience we could argue the right and wrong forever, but one sip will give you your answer.

I was in your same shoes, I had my surgery one week before I turned 21. I was fine with not drinking on my actually birthday. I had my first drink at 4 weeks post op I had a margarita from Disney California adventure and it went down perfectly fine, and yea we are now cheap dates I got a buzz from it lol by the way HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :)

I had to sign a waiver that I would not drink alcohol for a year if not longer. The way it was explained to me, it has nothing to do with hurting you stomach, but it has everything to do with how your body will handle alcohol. The smaller stomach has fewer enzymes to break down the alcohol and you have teh potential to become inebriated much more quickly.

21 is a special year, but like everyone else said, you should wait. It doesn't matter that there may be alcohol in your Loratab. When you are on Loratab, you are not allowed to drive or handle large equipment/machines because of impaired judgement.

I understand that some people have had a terrible experience with this surgery. I read your story and truly feel for you. That said your attitude with people and the ugliness you spew at a simple question is uncalled for and despicable. Perhaps you need a new outlet for your rage. This is certainly not the place for it.

I just want to say that this is suppossed to be a support site not attack eachother site. Just makes me sick how wrapped up people can get over there own OPINIONS (SP?). Anyway Happy Birthday! I think enigmachik said it best a few sips won't kill you just take it easy. ;)

I need to figure out how to unfollow this post no offense to you but I don't like the negitivity just not what we need right now listen to me now I', negitive! AHHHHHH! :o

Happy Thoughts! :)

I drank at maybe 10 days out and it wasn't just a few sips either, I had a fair few double vodka's (I'm gonna get slammed for this) and was perfectly fine. It doesn't sound to me that you want to go out and get wasted so ignore all the harsh comments you have received and have a Happy, Happy Birthday!!!

Ha! I like to hear that! Makes me feel better

Again you should do what your Doc tells you no one here will know what's best for you over what your Doc would with that said I would not and still have not but only drank maybe 2 times a year before I was sleeved. My doc said after 3 weeks it would be fine for me but again not something I did before so not a big thing for me.So ask your doc it is something I'm sure you could call and ask and you would get better info from the doc them us ;)

People have jumped off bridges and been fine too. Doesn't mean it's recommended.

What an absolute filth post. Encouraging someone to blatantly disregard their health. Shame on you.

Ha Ha! Told Ya!! Just being honest and as I have never attempted to jump off a bridge I couldn't possibly comment. I would also like you to point out where I encouraged her to drink alcohol? The only advice I gave her was to ignore the Trolls and have a nice birthday!!
