Well, things are still moving in the right direction, but I am still a bit nervous. I took off 7 lbs. pre-op, 22 lbs. week 1 & now 8 lbs. week 2. So, I am now down 37 lbs. & right on the border of going into the 370's. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for every pound that comes off. Every pound down is me a pound healthier & a step in the right direction. I just have been in the 380's on my own before in the past year, but was never able to break into the 370's. I think once I've hit that milestone & keep going down that I will breathe a little bit easier. I will know that, yes, this tool of getting the sleeve is helping me do something that I was not able to do on my own. Anyone else have similar fears at the beginning?

Hi Dee, I'm getting sleeved on 12/19 and I am a bit scared that it wont' work for me and I only say that because I've only had a problem with my weight in the last 12 years, but my body sticks. No matter what I've tried, how much I've worked out, etc...the scale refuses to move. I will lose inches before lbs. The most I've been able to lose in the last 12 years is 20 lbs., which took me 4 months to do, and I gained it back in the 4-5 months following. I have every confidence in the world that this will work for me over the long run, but am a little nervous that I will be a very slow loser (like 2 lbs. a week slow). But we will see; whatever I lose I know it'll be gone forever cause my body will stick at that weight. LOL

Yes, and you will continue to have it after each milestone. But just know you will hit that mile stone, please don't let it stress you. You will have some stalls along the way I had one in week 3 and then in week 4 I began to move again. When you hit your stalls it's either your not getting in enough Protein or your not getting in enough liquids. Modify it and you will be fine, good luck on your journey!

Oh boy, yes!! I can so relate!! I am very cool headed. But I remember vividly freaking out and posting on here around week 2 or 3 asking if the surgery ever failed anyone. People here held my hand and brought me back to sanity.

I've lost 50 pounds, so it does work! Lol. But I won't lie to you. For some people the weight falls off, for others, every pound is a hard earned victory. That's how it has been for me- each pound was a bit of a struggle to lose, but I am losing. So even in your darkest days, keep working the program and the weight will come off!! :-)

Thank you. I have a feeling that I will be one of those people who fight for every pound. After not seeing the scale move for 4 days I am thinking about not weighing myself every day. I also am constantly reminding myself that the my sleeve is just a tool for me to utilize. It's not magic. It is nice to know that I am not alone.

You are doing great. This is a lifelong journey and we need to take advantage of the honeymoon period. I plan and hope to learn the right habits with my eating and drinking to carry me through the rest of my life. You will do great. Stay positive.

Yes, yes! I have the same fears!! I am on day 5 post op and struggling with head hunger and just worried that when I do finally get back on solid foods that I might fail! I know it is just a head psych out going on and this tool was a good choice and I will be successful but it is still rough at times fighting those thoughts!! I definitly realize I need to find some hobbies lol!! While im at home from work recovering my usual go to would have been food and tv and now i find myself being bored and cant fill my boredom with food so that will be my next goal!! Good luck on your journey!!!

DeeDee, while it's not magic and it does take work, it sure is a magical feeling! It really is. Here's a couple of pointers:

-measure yourself now. If you wait, you'll regret it later.

- take a picture with an outfit. Save that outfit and every month take a photo in that outfit. I SO wish that I had done this. Other people on here have and it is so cool to see the progress.

-put your scale away if it is messing with your head. Pick one day to weigh and stick to that. We have a 'super saturday weigh-in' thread. Why don't you join that?

- even if you do end up being a slow loser, you should remember something really important: you are truly learning HOW to eat and that will make you a success for the rest of your life. It's cool and yes, I often feel jealous, when people lose weight so quickly, but you are learning right out of the starting gate how to eat. :-)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
