If you have a sweet tooth, the very best advise I can offer you - kick it. Cold and permanently. It sounds harsh but it is true.

I am learning that I really, truly, will just have to exist without indulging carbs or sweets of any kind. I can't have really sweet stuff anyway, my tummy hates it - but I went into remission from type 2 diabeties in March and my pancreas and liver are functioning effortlessly - no spikes with OJ or wheat bread, or Peanut Butter - my limit is only on what I can eat without it making my stomach hurt.

With that said, and letting myself slip off the 5-year long almost carbless existence I had pre-sleeve/remission, it is a creeper, it will sneak up on you - if you don't clip it it is like what I imagine smoking to be to my sister - you go for sooo long, and go so well, and a nip here (puff there) and bam!

For me, given what I have been through, seeing my progress and knowing now I can still slip, I have made what I can say will a decision to live refined-sugar (refined 'oses') free.

Perhaps chocolate calcium chews would work for you. These are between 5-15 calories each and also help you with Calcium requirements (my doctor requires me to take 6 daily where each are 250 mg). I find both the chocolate and caramel flavors are yummy.

The sleeve is a tool, not a magic wand. Head hunger is a challenge you will need to address without caving in to cravings. Show yourself some tough love. One option is to cut out sugar period. Another is to indulge, but only with low fat, sugar free options.

Then there is that other choice to just eat chocolate when you want to. But if you elect to do that then why bother with a sleeve? Just be obese.

You won't find many enablers here. You will find a lot of people going through the same thing and who will support your efforts towards better health.

sugar free Hershey's mini's

Those taste ok but aren't low calorie and they also give some people gas and diarrhea, especially if they eat several.

Atkins Protein bars taste good. They have different flavors. One even taste like a baby ruth candy bar. You are also getting protein with these little bars. If I take that sweet urge which has only been a couple of times I grab one of these. I bought them for the purpose of extra protein. I found they kill the sweet urge, and give the extra protein I need plus one small bar makes me extremely full for hours alot of times I cant finish a complete bar.

By surgery free fudgesicles.... I meant sugar free fudgesicles.

Auto-correct... Making people feel dumb since 2007.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
