Anyone Have A Problem With Cucumbers?

Recommended Posts

I am six weeks post op... I am looking for a low carb snack AND I have been craving cucumbers... Is there any reason I should not eat them? My doc is super strict - he only allows fish and eggs and I am SICK of fish and eggs...

I was told no raw veg for something like 6 months. It is too hard and can cause a leak.

Dang. But thanks... I needed to know if there was a reason. I guess I will wait. :-(

I would listen to what your doctor says instead of asking relative stangers on the Internet for advice on your medical care.

I was also very sick of my limited food choices, but I was much more sick of being a gigantic fatso, so it was a reasonable price to pay for a lifetime of poor choices in my case.

"I would listen to what your doctor says instead of asking relative stangers on the Internet for advice on your medical care"

I hear what you are saying, but I like to ask others because my doctor (the only one covered by my insurance) is not at ALL approachable and answers very few questions, and those he does with attitude. He prides himself in being "tough" and has a, "because I said so..." approach. I am not four, and am much more compliant when I understand the reasons behind the directions.... I have found this board invaluable for getting insight to how OTHER doctors relate to their patients. My doctor has the bedside manner of Dr. Gregory House. He may be a good surgeon, but he is not a kind man.

Cucumbers are known to cause gas so you may not want to eat them for that reason alone. Not too mention your sleeve is probably still too new for ruffage.Idk it might be just me but I avoid gas causes :)

I'm 7 weeks out and I've been eating cucumbers without issue for about a week and a 1/2! I eat them with just salt and pepper or marinated in low fat Italian dressing and chew like hell.

It's been a really good snack for me. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
