What Questions Did You Ask Your Surgeon At Consultation?

I am in the process of coming up with a list of questions to ask my surgeon at my consultation. You have all been so helpful and wonderful in answering my questions. THANK YOU!!! Would any of you mind sharing the questions you had for your surgeon? It may be something I want to add to my list and haven't considered it yet. :):)

I am asking about approval process. Ulcer preventative meds. Current meds. I heard there is medicine to help tighten skin so I'm asking abt that. Umm if u go to YouTube n type karishero in the vsg video has a list of my ?'s at the end..

You should have a clear understanding of your diet post - op for at least the next 6 weeks. Ask what he wants you to do for nausea and vomiting. Ask how much it is going to hurt and how does he treat pain (hint, liquid hydrocodone ROCKS). Ask if he feels that this will help you get off any co-morb drugs you are currently taking (he better say yes, but ask anyway). Ask him exactly what he does during surgery (whats the exact process). How does he test for a hiatial hernia and what is his choice for a fix. Ask him how many patients he has done this on and how many he has had to re-admit for compilications. What were those complications and how were they resolved. How soon can you resume normal activities, how soon you can start an exercise plan.

If he can't give you clear and solid answers for these, you might want to rethink your surgeon...
