Try to up your caloric intake, it might help to jump start your metabolism. I slowed down in my 2nd month but started to get more calories in and it helped. Everyone has stalls and they are very frustrating, but rest assured you will continue to lose the weight, it might not be 20 lbs a month, or even 10 lbs a month, but you will lose!!

Hi ms Rosie-How much have you lost Pre and post op? Maybe you are at a plateau. I've read that when you don't lose on the scale, your body is adjusting inside and you are still getting smaller, just not in ways that can be measured on a scale. Don't be disheartened! Are you getting 60-80 grams if Protein in, liquids, and Vitamins? Im almost 7 weeks myself and haven't lost much this past week (about 1 pound), but I feel smaller in my clothes. I do know that I didn't drink enough Water while preparing and histessing Thanksgiving dinner. So now I'm focusing on getting my Water in. I want to lose 20 by New Years so I've got some work to do! I figured with holiday shopping snd decorating I'll be more active too so that should help burn this calories. Remember, it's still basic calories in and calories out-emphasis on protein! Good luck!

I was 246 starting weight and lost 7 pounds pre-op and 26 post-op for total of 35 pounds. The thing is up into thanksgiving day I was doing everything right including 1 1/2 in the gym of cardio and weights and I just don't see the scale moving I up my calories this past 3 days for sure thinking it would break this stall or something and it made me gain 1 pound at this point I don't gave a goal or anything I'm just worried I will get back to my old ways and put anything in my mouth since I don't see results I heard about the stalls but really 4 pounds in a month is not enough especially when I'm working out 5 days I lost more before when I was eating normal and working out the same amount of time:((( But thanks girls for listening to me that helps specially cause you guys are going through the same thing as me and yeah maybe all of this will get better:((

If you are working out a lot, you may be gaining muscle and losing fat and that would cause you not to lose weight on the scale. But you will look better and be healthier.

You are definately gaining muscle and believe me, in the long run your body will look better-toner and the muscle will start helping you burn fat more efficiently so you will enjoy a catch-up of pounds lost at some point. Trust me!

Whatever you do, don't give up!!!

I've had two major stalls since my surgery at the end if June. Each lasted 3/4 weeks and it gets frustrating because of the expectations we place on ourselves for the surgery, I'm learning that's not the way to think. I just broke that second stall. I'm here to say it will get harder mentally if you start letting yourself think like old you. I don't mean just the food habits. I mean, you are strong, you are worth it! Keep staring down your goal and you new lifestyle! It's so worth it!

I have to become a snob about food to keep myself on track the best. When I see junk food, I start making myself think, "eww, you put that in you body!? Do you know what's in it? All those chemicals and..." You get the idea. I politely refuse any that is offered.

Just don't give up!!!

I lose very slow, but I lose and if you are spending that much time at the gym then you are adding muscle mass. Are you seeing a change in your clothes? Although I am a slow loser, I have gone from a size 22 to a size 16. So I am changing! Are you on My Fitness Pal? Watch your calories in and calories out, this is just fact if you are getting more out than in you will lose weight. Get your blood work checked for thyroid and Vitamins and keep plugging away. I know it is frustrating when you see people lose 75 lbs in 2 months but they that is okay, as long as our does come off, what does if matter if it is 2 months or 6? As long as it does come off! It has taken me over a month to lose 10 lbs but I could have never done that without the surgery! Hang in there!!

I am also losing the weight somewhat slowly after the initial 20 pounds. I have lost 32 pounds since starting the 2 week liquid pre-diet - that was September 12th. That's 10 and a half weeks. My doctor thought I should have lost more. But that is still an overall average of about 3 pounds a week. If I even lose 1.5 pounds a week after a year I will have lost 78 pounds. That would put me down from 240 to 168. Another 26 weeks would make that 39 pounds more putting me at 129 pounds and under my doctor's goal of 130.

Today is a really great milestone. I was able to get up and dance for 2 songs. I danced to the video on my laptop to Rolling Stones - Brown Sugar (3:33min) and then my boyfriend put on Cyndie Lauper's Girls Just Want to Have Fun (3:54) and I danced to that too. . I have not done that in at least 4 years. We are going to the park in a minute. I'm going to walk around the park. It's a big loop around several soccer fields that informal groups go to play "futbol". If anyone in Houston reads this and would like to form a walking group I would be interested. Or if someone wants to meet up to dance or ride bicylces - or swim. If you are interested message me and I will send you my phone number.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
