Anyone Do Ddpyoga?

Recommended Posts

Just curious if anyone else does DDPYOGA/YRG? I've had the program since March & I love it!!! I had to take a break due to a few issues, but I'm restarting to get as straight as possible before surg next month.

I have checked out the website before and would love to buy the DVDs, but I just never got around to it. I like DDPs energy and I like his approach from a fitness standpoint. If you want yoga to be a big part of your fitness then I think DDPs yoga would be a very good choice. Other yoga tapes I've seen might make you feel better and improve balance and flexibility, but they won't do much for weightloss.

I haven't done DDP Yoga but I've tried many other kinds. My experience is that sometimes when you get exercise people putting out Yoga programs it's a lot more exercise and a lot less real Yoga. Bob Harper of the Biggest Loser is an example of that. I like his Yoga DVD but I not recommend it to someone just starting out. Given DDP's wrestling background I think it could be the same but since I haven't used it I'm just guessing.

Rodney Yee, Sean Corn, Shiva Rea and Kathryn Budig are all American Yoga instructors who are excellent at teaching Yoga without making it become just exercise. Those are the people I would start with if you want a good understanding of the Yoga that you are practicing.

My experience with Yoga in general is that it's not for weight loss. At least, in all the years ive been practicing it, I've still been heavy. Flexible & calm/centered, yes...but heavy :) I've been doing yoga since I was a child & my grandmother taught me. :) videos of yoga in general are just plain old strange IMHO. thanks for the suggestions... I personally find Rodney Yee hard to follow, especially his vinyasana flow. (especially as a fat girl lol) I also agree about the pseudo celebrities who all think they should be yogis now bc it's trendy...annoying.

I didn't even know who DDP was when I got the program. I did it at the insistence of a friend. He's definitely got his own style, but omg it WORKS. if I knew how to post pix from the app, I'd show my day 1 v day 31 comparison pix. I got out of the habit of doing it, unfortunately. Gotta restart so I can be strong for surgery. Seems from what I read, being fit before surg makes recovery easier.

I saw this on Facebook. I desperately want to learn yoga for flexibility (I have none) but I cannot kneel on my knees due to previous injuries (even at -98 pounds). How much does DDP depend on knee-based positions?

Arthur is amazing, & such a nice guy. I've chatted with him on a few occasions. :)

As for the knees, overall it doesn't really rely on having strong joints/muscles. You can alter every position with a little planning (maybe a chair for balance, for example). I have bad knees & a trick back & I didn't have any issues when I was 1st starting out--other than a sore body & having no doubt that I was working it! Haha

When you order, you get access to their forums & training tips, etc & Dallas is always watching the posts so he's very interactive with the members. It's nice. Like a family or something. Sorta like here... Everyones in the boat. Lol

Money is tight right now so I went on e-bay and found a DDP yoga video for people with 50+ pounds to lose. I don't see if for sell on his site currently so it may be older. It's still sealed and comes with a fat burner video too. I will probably order the full set after the first of the year when income will be better.

Fat burner is a great disc! I think I know which one you're talking about. If it's the one I'm thinking about, then it's fairly similar to the one disc in the set. I ordered the full set way back when & honestly I've only gotten through 3 of them...and that's plenty! Haha

I agree with everything you wrote about Yoga. You won't lose weight but it really makes you feel good. I love it because all that soreness from weights, biking and running just melts away. I've seen interviews with DDP and he said that Yoga saved his body after years of wrestling. I've heard the same thing from Trish Stratus who discovered Yoga after a horrible back injury from wrestling. She retired from the ring and opened up a Yoga studio in Toronto as a new career.

Based on your posts I will have to check out the DDP program. You've been doing this for a long time and if you say it works that's enough for me to see what it's all about. Thanks

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
