All Dr. Garcia's Sleeved Patients, Please Give Your Weightloss Amounts And Timeframes.....thanks!

Hey folks,

So it's been a while since I posted to this forum. It's actually been awhile since I opened this app. I was sleeved my Dr. Garcia Feb 5, 2013. My start weight was 248, surgery weight 239, current weight 205. I am closing in on 11 weeks post op. I have lost a total of 43 pounds including pre-op. 34 pounds since surgery. Everything has been great so far. No complications, a few moments of discomfort but not real problems. I'm learning a lot about my new stomach.

I haven't post to this site because I've been busy. And honestly I think that's how it is for other patients. When you are preparing for surgery your main focus is research. So you spend as much time as possible in forums, etc. But once you have had the procedure your focus isn't the forums or research. But more so on following protocol and trying to survive this procedure with no complications.

Trust me I know how frustrating it is to be looking for more people with experience. When you are trying to do your research. But believe once you've completed this process. You'll be so focused on doing things right that you forget to check in in blogs and forums.

For me I have only been able to focus once a week to my YouTube channel. Which is getting scares. I've gone from 6 min weekly vids to 56 secs weekly videos. There is a lot of sleevers that use YouTube. Maybe you all should follow a few of us to keep posted. Again I post every Tuesday sometimes Wednesday if I'm super busy. If you want to follow me you can.

6 months since surgery with Dr Garcia and his team. Absolutely NO regrets. I am down 75 lbs. Started at 271 , now at 195. Im at my highschool weight and its friggin awesome! If anyone has any questions about Dr. Garcia's team or Tijuana, please message me! It has been an amazing experdand I would not hesitate to recommend the sleeve.

I took it very slowly with new foods and still rely on my smoothie every morning for my Protein and Vitamins. I can eat most anything in moderation, but certain things took time and effort. I can eat meats if I chew really well. Cheeses are good and give me a quick little snack with a couple apple slices. tuna is good now, but I couldn't take it until 2 months out. Nuts go down really easily which I am STOKED about. I stay away from high carbs like breads and Pasta, but I can have A BITE of most anything. There are things I still cannot tolerate in any amount larger than a bite: ice cream is one of them, I've noticed certain times during the month when I feel my sleeve is more restrictive. I call it "period restriction". During that time I tend to l lose more (makes sense). Im not gonna lie: I have puked when it was one bite too many or I forgot to chew really well. I also had some pretty gnarly nighttime heartburn that has mostly resolved since buying a wedge pillow from Overstock.com. I also passed a kidney stone last month--most likely from not hydrating enough, and taking too many tums!

This surgery is not a cure--its a tool. I know I would not have had this success without it, and I also utilize apps like Myfitnesspal and Fitbit to track food, nutrients, Water and exercise. I feel like I have my life back, and for that I'm truly grateful.

Sleeved on 2/21/13 by Dr. Garcia! I'm very happy with my sleeve...although I agree with all those who have said "It is only a tool...you still have to do the work". My first six weeks were appetite-free, but I now experience hunger (both head hunger and true hunger) so I have to plan my day so that I get some Protein every couple of hours. My diet plan is for 700-800 calories per day, although I have definitely exceeded those numbers on a few (unpleasant) days during the past few weeks.

Six months was just yesterday. Started out 220, now 153. It's 68 lbs down. I can eat just about anything except salmon. I do also have alcohol which slows my weightloss. I do miss my taste buds but am glad of my decision! And when I say eat anything, I mean like two or three bites, excellent restriction!

Have you tried Unjury? I blend my smoothie every morning and heres what's in mine: 1 scoop Unjury vanilla, 1 scoop GNC women's mega active powder Vitamin in vanilla cream, ice, Water, 2 tbsp half/half, 1 tsp psyllium (trader joes brand), and EITHER berries -OR-a Starbucks Via coffee packet. I've found the unjury to be much easier on my little gut. Before unjury I used GNC AMP extreme 60 Protein Powder which i like, but its not as versatile as the unjury...I do not like the RTD shakes. They have too much sweetener.

Dont worry about little stalls...try to up your cals by 100-200 on days you exercise--that broke my stalls. Keep it up!

Honestly I think my first few months were slow for me. I lost inches more then lbs.

I truly doubt even at this juncture I'm

Getting all my protein in. I just do what's best for me and try to make better choices.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
