Are there any New York Bander's Here?

Recommended Posts

:help: Hi there all, Iam Lisa and I am 4 months+ post op. I had my surgery at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, Westchester County,New York.

They have a support group that only meets on the first Wednesday of the month. I have not been able to attend yet since I live in the Bronx and I do not drive. The meeting is at 7pm and my husband does not get home from work until 7 and I have no one to watch my 4 years old son.

I wondering if anyone who lives in New York in the Bronx or lower Westchester Region ( New Rochelle,White Plains, etc.) know of any support group meetings that I might be able to go to that have a better scheduled time.( Nights ore weekends)

For my meetings I have used Obesity Help, but Iam not finding what I really need there.

Iam so glad that today I found this site that is all about Lapband , Iam looking foward to making may alot of a new banded friends.

Thanks for everyone's love and support,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I live in Manhattan and go to the NYU meeting that is on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6 pm. It doesn't sound like you could get downtown by that time though. I don't know of any meetings that start after 7 pm. I think that might cause you more problems than the location (there are 10 or more meetings in NYC that I know about, but they all start early evening).

LBT is a great online resource though. If you're looking for even more support traffic, you might check out some of the Yahoo Groups on banding as well (Bandsters and SmartBandsters both get a lot of traffic).

Good luck,

I'm a bit late to this, but you mentioned approx 10 mtgs in the NY area, would you know of anyplace they are listed.

I can't attend the Wednesday night meetings but would like to find another one in Manhattan (or Bklyn/Queens near Manhattan bound subway).

Thanks

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
