Vsg With Bmi Under 35

Hi Happydaisy. Congrats on your surgery. I am sure I will feel the same way you do after surgery. I will try to remember all those *&^(%$ days of dieting where I sat and watched my family eat like normal people while I ate "diet" food and had to battle my hunger demon. Sipping chicken broth for almost guaranteed results sounds a lot better. I am going to remember to surf the boards after surgery for the same reminder you describe. Good luck and congrats!

I had it done on dec 13th. I feel pretty good today. Im just doing my best to get my liquids in. I felt weak this morning but felt better after I drank my Protein. So far, uhm, yeah, I regret it. When my family eats, im drinking my stupid chicken broth. Then again, im only 4 days postop. I love food and im starting to get frustrated bc I cant have real food. I reassure myself by reminding myself i can eat normal and whatever I want just smaller portions but just not right now. I get on this forum and read posts that are about 2-3months postop and get encouraged. I am embarrassed that im starting to get frustrated being only 4dys out. Oh well, cant change it now, gotta move forward, but the way I feel right now, I would rather not have done this. Going vegan sounds more appealing. Then again, how long would that last?

Wow I don't think i was expecting that response, but honesty is respected. I think you are going to get past this feeling... but it is emotional. Praying for you.

Keep in mind the person posting this is only 4 days post op, they are in the worst part of the whole experience. They are likely experiencing crazy head hunger, which at this point maes them feel like they are starving. Their intake is very limited, and they are wondering if something is wrong. This is all pretty normal. The GREAT news is 2weeks from now they'll be able to look back with perspective and say "it was so worth it.". As you surf the forum, look at people's surgery dates. Regretful people are almost always very early post op. Even people I've seen that have had complications, after getting past them don't seem to regret the surgery though they may in hind site have chosen a different doctor or facility.

This is true. Thats why I say im only 4dys po. That is why I read threads of people further along for encouragement. I believe OTR is correct, but im still gonna be honest. At 2wks ill be honest too.

I started with a BMI of 34.9 going for the sleeve but I opted for the gastric bypass because of its better results against long-term regain. I would encourage people with lower BMI's to get the sleeve or the bypass - don't wait until morbid obesity approaches. I am three weeks post op and I am so grateful I did this surgery. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had to pay out of pocket an t was worth every penny.

I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 13, 2012. I was wondering if I could get some input from past sleevers that have had the VSG with a bmi under 35. I wonder if this is such a drastic measure just to loose about 60lbs. I don't have any diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Im just tired of being overweight. Of course, I don't want to get too thin either. I like having my curves. I am also getting pretty nervous about this surgery. I ask myself, should I really do this? I also can't find any sleevers past 5 yrs postop. How will I be at 70yrs old. (im 40 right now).

Checking in on you? How are you feeling, how's it going.. Prayers!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
