Appetite Back... With A Vengeance!

Recommended Posts

I've started back to the gym doing hour-long intense group fitness classes. I'm about 2.5 mos. post-op. I feel like my appetite has returned with a vengeance. Anyone else experience this?

actually I can relate and i'm less than one month post op..... I still have an appetite, and NOTHING makes me sick. I don't eat large portions, I am still sticking to around 800-1000 calories a day, but all food tastes good. I am a bit worried myself.

Are you both losing weight?

As to the work outs...did you adjust your calorie and Protein intake to fit them? That is important if they are significant.

Me too. A friend had it 6 months ago and can't eat as much as I can. I still lose at least 5. Lbs a day. We all gave different size stomachs and different tolerance. I've been very lucky

Oh yes. I experienced this fairly quickly. I have to be VERY careful about what I allow to go into my mouth. Measuring and planning is a good defense to letting yourself get too hungry and then just eating whatever sounds good at the time. Stay full of Protein. It fills you up quicker and stays with you longer.

I am losing.. I'm down 23 lbs in a fairly short period of time, so very happy with that... but really would have thought that I would feel more resistance/ restriction. Scares me a bit. I have to really rely on my willpower, which I lacked many times in the past.

You are just starting out I am sure with your low post counts. once you are onto solids, 1-3 ounces will leave you very full. At almost 5 months, 3-4 ounces of chickens leaves me full. 5 ounces is sometimes too much, especially when I woof it down. Good luck.

even so soon after surgery tho, I can eat a whole can of tuna (with a small amount of light mayo mixed in) ... I can eat a fairly decent sized cup of soup.. I don't know.. maybe I'm just being paranoid... I don't want to do anything that will set me back. This is my last straw, and I pray daily that this is a success!!

Don't worry about this.... I had the same problem but the throwing up began with a vengeance recently. I think honestly it has to do with your stomach kinda being numb post surgery. Now i get sick sick if i overeat. Or eat the wrong thing. Or one more bite after feeling full. I was able to eat more shortly after surgery than now. And now I'm paranoid about what I will put in my mouth.....

I'm about a month and a half out and can eat plenty. A kinda good thing since I don't like people to question that I now eat so little and a bad thing that I might not continue losing the pounds. Yesterday the office bought pizza for the team. I ate 1/4 of a large pizza and I also got a slice at the gas station after work. snacked on some nuts, drank a 16 oz strawbeery milk and ate a walgreens frozen meal with sorta a lot of chips. Had put on 3 lbs by bed time. Then this morning the office brought in panera Bagels. I ate 1 with cream cheese in like 15 min. Although the old me might have downed 2 of them. Needing to realize that even though I can doesn't mean I should.

Yes, it is important to remained focused and keep your eye on the prize The NEW you! Carbs can be a road to old habits so for a lot of us we abstain until new habits form. Try spending 3 weeks with 20 carb or less to reduce your temptations and dependence on carbs. I have been there and done that. Fortunately I made the decision to build new eating habits bout 2 months before being sleeved. This made it fairly easy to say no without any effort no matter what the temptation is, no matter what the scenario is. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
